Don't crowd me out.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE No you do not want to, you are right now determining to stay away. Why do I say this? Because I don't want you to crowd me out of my enjoying it. Hee Hee.
OK my bio. 50ish and realizing that getting old is definitely a use it or lose it scenario. You will lose muscle mass, bone, balance etc and gain fat if you do not take active measures to address it. I have lifted weights at home for 4 years but hate running and /or elliptical.
Enter Bally's. I intend to swim for about 1/2 hour 3 times a week to get some cardio and general exercise of muscles. The $9.99 every 2 weeks and the yearly fee in December translates into $6.25 a week or a little over 2 bucks a swim. Even if I went 1 time per week as a brand new couch potato before building to more often the $6.25 per swim would be worth it. I am sure due to schedule and or sickness I will miss a few sessions or a week so the low price makes that easier to bear. If something long term happens and have to quit there is no long term contract.
As far as the reviews that claim a meat market, stinky people etc. Duh! Try to remember your days in the high school gym or dating age scenario. The only difference is that the clientele might weight several tons more at this stage of the game. If you don't want the opposite sex to look at you then wear several sizes larger clothes not the skin tight fashion model garb. Duh. And if you don't like to be around other people then be fast - get in and get out. I know exactly what I am going to do when I get there. In and out. I have little time to smell anyone.
Like I said" DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE No you do not want to, you are right now determining to stay away. Hee Hee
Can We Say Meat Market?. Between the clientel and the staff it feels like you're in a bar minding your own business when some cocky idiot comes along to h!t on you or in some way sexually harass you!!! Personally I go to a gym to work out and don't want anyone hitting on me while I'm doing so. "Hi I'm working up a sweat but obviously you found that attractive." Ugh! Equipment & facility are good, could use more attn in the locker rms / bathroom areas more frequently. People need to be more conscious of wiping off the machines when completing their workout If you can get past that then by all means go to Ballys!
This budget gym trims the fat off its patrons at streamlined facilities..
The Scene
Most Ballys stick to the basics for their design. Televisions broadcast silently above multiple rows of cardio machines; mirrored walls act as the primary decorative components. But thanks to high-energy television ads and low-impact membership premiums, this national fitness chain has steadily attracted a clientele bent on saving money while losing weight or gaining muscle.
The Workout
Using fairly standard strength-training equipment and/or racks well-stocked with free weights, the best of the trainers here, who are classified at four different levels, can be as skillful as those found at costlier gyms. For group classes, signature exercise options include Spinning and Powerflex, as well as a number of patented routines inspired by Tae Kwon Do.
