Tips for Le Peep

Rude. We have tried twice to eat at LePeep. Both times it was for a late morning brunch, and both times we had the worst possible service: none. We waited over 20 min the first time before simply leaving, while at least one waitress sat and chatted with a nearby table of apparent friends. The hostess at the front was so overwhelmed with the 1/2 full restaurant, that approaching her did not appear to be reasonable. One huge nice thing was the extremely prompt placement of a lemon garnished carafe of water on the table before being otherwise ignored. I don't mind sassy service, especially if the food is decent, but this place seemed to clearly not want our business, and we were not in anyway offensive in appearance/dress, etc.

Arrive at this bright spot for excellent omelets and popular lunch appeal.. The Scene

One of the most popular places in town for business lunches or weekend relaxing. Comfortably bright, modern dining room with Anne Geddes-style photos of hatching chicks in precarious positions, like the chick hatching from the eight ball spot in a cued rack. Weekdays are filled with business lunchers, but the weekends really give the staff a run for its money.

The Food

Fresh approaches to salads and sandwiches and an outstanding assortment of omelets and crepes. The best eggs can be found in the skillets that blend diced peasant potatoes, eggs and a variety of meats, cheeses and sauces. Biscuits are fresh and light--delectable alone or with sausage gravy. The best omelets are the simplest ones--thick and fluffy. The ham and cheese is outstanding, while the crab meat omelets are a nice change of pace with tomatoes, white cheddar cheese and Hollandaise sauce.
