Great view, food and service disappointing. We had a lunch here before returning home to Minneapolis. The view is spectacular from the patio, you're sitting right on the water. Unfortunately food and service didn't quite match up. Our server missed a few key points-never offered the wine list, didn't bring the bread basket, only offered dessert to my boyfriend who opted for the buffet (where it was included), glasses were left empty before they were refilled. For lunch I choose the whitefish, great piece of fish-no flavor or seasonings. Finally, we attempted to pay with a credit card but were told the machine was temporarily down. Luckily we had cash on us. If I hadn't been distracted by the view this meal would have been a disaster.
Amazing Brunch. The brunch at Pieces of Eight was exceptional, they had a wonderful pasta station and a wonderful buffet, they also had all you can drink momasas and champangne......But they didn't have quite good service .We had been sat by the waitress almost immediatly after walking inside but the waiter...by the name of Kevin wasnt attentive at all he took more than 10 minutes to greet us and didnt give us a positve dining experience that we were told pieces of eight offered.
User review by medstudnt07. The restaurant itself, along with the view, is beautiful. However, the outside construction could use some fixing - but I realize this is not the restaurant's fault. The food was exquisite actually - beautifully prepared and mouth watering. I got the salmon dinner. It was served with the best mashed potatoes I've ever had and perfectly cooked vegetables (the mushrooms and spinach topping was soooo good). The salmon itself probably could have used a little more salt, but this was nothing to complain about. My boyfriend got the chicken scampolini, which he too said was excellent. I'd probably go back again.
Romance is all you need!. My boyfriend and I dined in this resturant on valentine's day, had a great dinner with a even greater waitress! everything was wonderful and the horse and buggy was a great finsh to a wonderful night! thanks for the great valentine's day dinner. That I will always remember!!!
Aweful, will not return. I had guests coming from out of town I thought this would be the perfect place to take them. I was wrong. The long and short of it, I made my reservations a week in advance because I had guests traveling 4 hours to attend a show in Milwaukee. We were seated at 5:30 pm and by 7:00pm we only had drinks and appetizers. I repeatedly told the waitress we had time restraints due to the show and by 7:30 pm the manager came over and told us our order was lost. He paid for the appetizers and drinks and offered a return meal which meant nothing to my guests because they live 4 hours away. My guests never received their food and went to the show hungry and unable to eat until 10pm. Completely unacceptable.
Its Coming back. My wife and I used to go here 20+ years ago when dating, and then everyonce in a while after Marriage. The place and food went steadly down hill and peaked at a low in 2003, I complained through a letter, and was given a response from the NEW OWNERS, and asked me to come back at their treat, It was good, Much better than just 4 months earlier, but still not "quite" up to the price. We tried it again today, And It WAS awsome, The Food Was Superb, And Staffan (the waiter) could not have been better. I am So happy to see this fine resturant making its way back to years gone by quality again. They still have a few things to upgrade, (dishes are tired) but hey, they are NOTICABLY better. I give 8.5 out of ten!!
The popular Sunday champagne brunch and fresh seafood attract slews of regulars, who also appreciate the spectacular waterfront view..
In Short
This is the closest you'll get to Lake Michigan without a swimsuit; floor-to-ceiling windows provide panoramic lakeside views at this elegant seafood house. Wood and stone decor, a glowing fireplace and plenty of natural light create a country-club feel inside. The Sunday champagne brunch--featuring Dungeness crab, smoked trout and complimentary glasses of bottomless champagne--draws huge crowds. Non-seafood menu options include roast prime rib, 10-pepper meat loaf and antipasto salad.
Dump. This place is WAY past its prime. Great location, but terrible food, terrible atmosphere, poor service. Please sell and let a better restaurant capitalize on the Calatrava and city views...puhlease!!
Pieces of Eight Restaurant - Milwaukee. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan, Delicious food, great atmosphere...what more could you ask for?
ROMANTIC!!!. We were told about this restaurant 15 years ago because we were honeymooning in Milwaukee. Every since, any special occasion has us back at Pieces of Eight. Waiters are always friendly and attentive; even when the restaurant is crowded (which is often). A couple of years ago, we couldn't celebrate on Valentine's Day, but went to Pieces of Eight on a Tuesday night for an early celebration . . . how lovely, we were practically dining alone, and the full moon was lovely over Lake Michigan!
