Cover charge, what!?!. So after we spent half an hour looking for somewhere to park, we made our way to the side enterance. There was a line and a big sign saying there was a $5 cover for the bar/restaurant.

I've been there a couple time before and I have never paid the cover...and I never plan on paying one.

Atmosphere - fun, Food - not good. Our food was cold, I think they spend too much time entertaining people forgetting that they need to get the food out to the table while it is hot.

Cool place!. Great fun, great atmosphere, great food. It was fun just trying to get in. My family and I were in Milwaukee for the weekend, saw The Safe House on this web-site, and decided to find it ourselves. That was half the fun! Once we figured out how to get in--we ordered our lunch--the burgers were phenomenal--and I pride myself on burger expertise. The french fries were the best crinkle cuts I have ever had in my life--so good in fact that I am willing to drive 7 hours to have them again!! We went at lunch time on a Sunday, so there was no pressure to have the password--so I would say this is the best time for tourists looking for a good lunch in a great setting. Exploring the site was a fun way to pass the time while waiting for the food, and leaving. . . well I just hope you get to go there and find out for yourself!! One of the neatest places I have ever eaten in my life!

Secluded booths and fun staff and DJ!. As a bachelorette party, we were expecting to just "start the night" at Safe House but stayed until close. We loved the front door actiivities and the bar staff took really good care of us! The DJ was playing great music once he saw that everybody there wanted to dance to more hip hop than he had originally played... There were some creepy guys trying to go home with our group at the end, and the staff escorted us out a "secret" door to avoid them....

Very neat decor, very awesome booth and cool photo ops for later!

Big disappointment!. I had heard so much about this place, that it was really fun. The decor was ok but the service was VERY slow and the food was cold and steak was raw. The drinks were weak and overall I will not recommend this place to anyone. It was a BIG let down for us.

Basically, it's TGIFriday's meets James Bond. Another let down in Milwaukee. With everyone raving about this place, I went out of my way to see it. Predictably, it failed to impress, although I admire the creativity of the concept. I just wish that it could have been truer to a "safehouse" and not just some watered-down Walt Disney take on the spy theme. Perhaps my expectations were too high from the reviews on citysearch. Safehouse is basically a museum of spy movie posters with a few bits of actual spy artifacts sprinkled throughout. And in the midst of the endless frames of James Bond posters, there's burgers and chicken wing-type food. It's like someone opened up a spy restaurant at a mall. I'm sure back in the 80s the place was really cool, but the spy experience is really limited to your imagination, and the time you spend looking at movie posters. I was bored in about 3 minutes and wanted to leave. The entrance is cool, but the woman posing as the spy agent was reading a book when we got there, and blandly and disinterestedly went through the routine of making sure we were real "spies". Kind of a cute concept, since the bookcase spins out to reveal the entrance. But she went right back to her book before we were even out of the room. Oh, and it's a dollar to get in. I will say the staff was very friendly, and there was even a bartender at one of the bars doing card tricks that looked fun for the people there.

Not a place for food. The Safe house was recomened by hotel staff when we were visiting from out of state. We wanted to do something fun for dinner. Unfortunately we arrived very hungry, we wish we had been told to just order a burger or eat first. We ordered Lasangna and Ribs at a table of 5. The food was cold and the server was too busy to help us. It was a great place, great atmosphere!!! I would highly recomend it, but not if you are looking for good food.

Don't miss it!. This place is great! From the decoration to the people and whole general atmosphere. I went there while visiting Milwaukee and the locals will highly recommend this place, but they make sure to not tell you exactly where it is and how you manage to get it. Once you find your way in then you start having a lot of fun looking at other "lost people" at their little lobby on their numerous TVs.

Unlike anything else. This is a really cool restaurant. The food is good, but the attraction is the decor. The restaurant has some really nicely secluded booths so you can be away from everyone when it's busy. There's always a wait on weekend nights, and reservations are usually required on weekends, but I've come for lunch in the middle of the afternoon many times, and had the restaurant pretty much to my group. A great place to bring kids and explore. Terrible parking situation in the third ward though.
