Happy Hour Extravaganza!. I discovered Izumi's with my friends during their happy hour month in September. Once per season they have "happy hour" and they have certain half price menu items Monday - Thursday for a month.

I then took a friend of mine there, and he really enjoyed it as well. I always have the Malibu's Fiesta, which is a California Roll with diced spicy tuna on top, and then a spicy tekka maki and possibly an appetizer. It's soo reasonable during happy hour.

I have also had the Izumi roll and the Alaskan roll. Appetizers I have eaten include the bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp tempura, and edamame.

Splitting their tempura ice cream finishes the meal very nicely.

They also have a rewards program. When you spend $250 there with your frequent diner's card, you get a $25 gift card to Izumi's back. That's a pretty good deal, if you ask me, because that could feed me twice during happy hour seasons.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I had a server the second to the last time who was not rude or mean, but just a very poor server. It took forever for us to get our food, our bill, and for her to finish up our bill. We would see her cleaning tables in the corner while we were waiting.

We had a really excellent server 2-3 times though. Tall, thin build, dark hair and tanned caucasian male. He was GREAT!

By the way...the ocha is free!!!!

NEVER AGAIN. On 8-13-10, we went to Izumi’s for dinner. We had been there a few times before and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second last time, we were seated in a corner and ignored by all the waitstaff. After 15 minutes without so much as a glass of water, we got up and left. We waited a few months and decided to try again. We asked them if the service we received the last time was going to be repeated because even though the food is excellent, their service was horrible. The floor manager then said “well, if you don’t like the bad service, don’t come back”. There were several employees up front who heard it and were absolutely embarassed. We asked for the owner’s phone number and they said that she was there and got her for us. She only had two words to say about it, which were “Oh well”. We then said that was fine, we’ll just put this on the internet. Then she had a lot to say all of a sudden, the first words being, “wait, I didn’t say anything”. Too late ….here it is!

A Hands Down Favorite!. Yum Yum! Is all I have to say about Izumi's. The sushi here is knock down fabulous! I highly recommend trying as many differnt kinds as you can! The tempera was good too! The best part of the meal was the dessert! YOU MUST order the green tea ice cream and the Mochi Ice Cream! Mochi Ice Cream is mango and strawberry ice cream wrapped in rice flour and dipped in powdered suger!

The prices are really reasonable and the service was GREAT! I find myself craving the sushi and I can't wait to go back!

Come experience the best!

Not impressed..... I LOVE SUSHI... but my experience here was so so. Food was ok, service was ok, everything was just ok! When I dine out, I look for the wow factor, and I didnt get one here tonite. Not sure why I would go back. I will stick to Sake Tumi.

Best on east side. I've lived in Japan for many years so I know my Japanese food. Of the three Japanese restaurants I tried in Milwaukee this was the best so far. Service was good, had at least one Japanese chef (I think all three were Japanese) for the sushi. The only drawback was that the staff couldn't answer simple questions about sake though.

Stick with the chef's suggestions. If you haven't tries Izumi's since the move, try them again. Try to hit it on the days they get fish (call ahead and ask if they got a shipment today). Remember this is milwaukee and most places get thier fish twice a week. Ask the sushi chef what is freshest. If you get "everything is fresh" ask again.

The Miso was good and they and a nice selection of mid range sake.

Good sushi. Having just moved back to Milwaukee, I was quite pleased with the quailty of the sushi here. The white tuna was excellent and they had a great selection of both hot and cold sake.
