The Scene – Once Sanford D'Amato opened his restaurant in his father's former grocery the accolades began to fly. But despite rabid praise for D'Amato and his crew, there are no pretensions at this sleek, comfortable restaurant where the food blends flavors from Asia, Italy and the Mediterranean. – – The Food – The prix-fixe menu allows diners to choose from three-, four- or five-course options featuring treasures like pear and Roquefort tart with caramelized onions, grilled-rare marinated tuna with cilantro dressing, American red snapper and glazed fennel, or…

I had always heard about this place and finally had the chance to eat here. There were four of us dining and the experience for was fantastic for everybody. The dining room is small and we did have to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, because the party at our designated table wasn't in a hurry to leave. Once we were seated, everything seemed to progress flawlessly. We got our drinks, ordered, salads, soups, entrees, desserts, bill. The food was some of the best I've eaten. The best part about Sanfords was that we were there for over 3 hours, but it felt like 1 hour. The flow of the service was perfect. If you like trying out 'fancy' restaurants, you owe it to yourself to visit here at least once.
- Pros: exquisite food and service
- Cons: small waiting area

This is a restaurant you have to appreciate. It is fine dining. No bar area and an older crowd. However, it is one of the best meals you can find in Milwaukee.
- Pros: Great meal
- Cons: stuffy and an older, less diverse client base

Sanfords is the place you want to go to either truly impress someone, or just be impressed yourself! The dining room is rather small, so you'll need reservations. We ate there on a week night, and even though everyone arrives at roughly the same time, the service was perfect. It appeared that each server only has two tables so that he/she can be appropriately attentive. The menu is first rate and everything is fresh and imaginitive. We enjoyed our food. The wine list is rather extensive, but there are many affordable options. Save room for the dessert, and you might want to try the sampler of infused vodkas. There were quite tasty.
- Pros: Service, Menu, Food
- Cons: Expensive, but you're paying for a first class dinner!
