Once a grocery, now a restaurant, this comfortable dining experience blends the flavors of Asia, Italy and the Mediterranean..
The Scene
Once Sanford D'Amato opened his restaurant in his father's former grocery the accolades began to fly. But despite rabid praise for D'Amato and his crew, there are no pretensions at this sleek, comfortable restaurant where the food blends flavors from Asia, Italy and the Mediterranean.
The Food
The prix-fixe menu allows diners to choose from three-, four- or five-course options featuring treasures like pear and Roquefort tart with caramelized onions, grilled-rare marinated tuna with cilantro dressing, American red snapper and glazed fennel, or char-grilled elk loin with sweet and sour chard. Monday through Friday nights, the kitchen will whip up a dazzling seven-course feast for the whole table. The bittersweet chocolate tart with coffee ice cream is a delicious dessert.
Manufactures Rep.
Foodwise and servicewise this clearly one of the best restraunts in the country.

Exquisite. While it was expensive, it was well worth it. For me; probably a once in a lifetime experience. I've never experienced food prepared so exquisitely.
Excellent. Supurb service, food, presentation, wine, deserts, decor. The best restuarant in Milwaukee.
Oh my! Absolutely delicious. In a city lacking in it's upscale dining options, Sanford is a restuarant that can compete with Trotter's in Chicago and many of the famous NYC establishments. I've gone there twice, and both times I was swept off of my feet by the innovative combinations of flavors. The flourless chocalate cake is excellent. Also, the risotto with the asparagus sauce was also great. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who's looking for a romantic night in Milwaukee or just looking for fabulous food. Granted the meal is perhaps the most expensive in Milwaukee, but it's definitely worth it.
