Great hotel BUT... It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!
Every meal tasted like salt. I have eaten here at least twice a year for the last several years and really enjoyed it. I ate there on 01/09/09 and was very disappointed. Every dish tasted like salt. The meal was like licking a salt stick. The bread tasted like bread dipped in salt; the clam linguine tasted like dry clams dipped in salt, and the ravioli special tasted like sweet salt. My wife and I were so disappointed. How could one of the best Italian places in Milwaukee have fallen so much. I won't be going back anytime sone.
If you prefer to be ignored and then served sediment they call port.... Granted, my husband and I have been here several times, and with each meal, our server was a fantastic guy who treated us like VIPs. However, this last (and it will be the last) time we dined at Osteria, we were treated like second-class citizens, made to wait for a very long time to order, made to wait again for our food, and eventually cancelled our dessert. I ordered a glass of port as a digestif and was poured a glass of sediment. The server (different guy, our previous server left for a warmer state), Brian, was rude, unapologetic, and made us feel unwelcome. He paid little attention to us, instead, putting more effort in his service with the two 4-tops near our table. When I walk into a restaurant, particularly one that's not so casual, I expect to be treated as well as the other diners. My husband and I think the food's good, nothing too exceptional, but coupled with the experience we had, it was not worth it.
Don't waste your money.. I have not heard much about the food, but the place looked cool from outside. So we tried it. The service was friendly, and at times quite good. I had a meat ball pasta and my wife had crab stuffed ravioli, both of which were very dissapointing and left a bad taste. I would spend my money at the Knick, next door. It's well worth the money!
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Located inside the Knickerbocker Hotel, the restaurant serves authentic Italian cuisine and offers outdoor dining and a full bar.
Best Italian upscale restaurant in Milwaukee. If you want a Chicago level experience in Milwaukee this is your only choice. The owner is a trained CIA graduate and worked for Lettuce Entertain You in Chicago.I lived in Chicago for 8 years and I have eaten at most of the restaurants down there. The Scallops are incredible as are the other dishes.Prices are reasonable for an experience like this.I had my wedding reception there and all my guests say the have never had food like that at a wedding before.
