So I had to call the police on the bouncer working there. I am a grad student and avid producer and I played a show there with about 17 supporting friends that paid an extremely high cover of $11 just to hear local music. Long story short, the bouncer didn't like EDM music and demanded that I take down a table from the stage at the end of the night, which all DJs were using to set their equipment on. I decided no, considering the revenue the bar made, amounting to about $300 from my friends alone. He was drunk and blocked the door as we were leaving, and a power struggle ensued with threats to beat the s*** out of me, leading me to call the police in order to exit the venue. Apparently I am a "beanie-wearing f****** hipster" because I didn't move a table. Not to mention the place is a dive and the sound system was pretty bad. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE BUSINESS. There are establishments that really do care about local music and don't GET OFF on ripping musicians and their friends off.

Booze and blues mingle in this smoky joint that advertises its popularity with a wall of famous performers' photos.. The Scene
This pub proclaims itself the blues capital of Milwaukee on its front windows. The marquee confirms the claim; Big Jim Liban, Otis Rush, Hudson, Blues Harp Jimmy and Milwaukee Slim have all played on the pub's stage. The century-old, long, narrow pub has a high ceiling, hardwood floors and an antique wooden bar. Smoke dances around the throngs of music lovers, young and old.

The Draw
More than 20 beers are on tap, with plenty of microbrews from local breweries like Sprecher and Lakefront. There's also Guinness, Harp, Bud and Miller. Need a cocktail? Plenty of the hard stuff awaits at the full bar. Decent pub grub is available, but people really come to smoke, drink and listen to great music. Anything else is just a perk.
