Makes you feel at home. I have gone to the County Clare 3 times and never have I felt more at home then in this restaurant. Great comfort food, potato of the day, and reubens and other cornbeef concoctions awaiting your perusal. If you want to go somewhere for a good pint of Guinness and some good home cooking go here. And try the chicken shannon as an appetizers you won't be disappointed.
Authentic Irish food complements the beer and conversation at this boisterous restaurant and bar..
The Scene
The wooden alcove, or "snug," around the fireplace provides a cozy place to enjoy a drink, but be warned: The regulars and their friends are not the quiet sort. Once the band, beer and conversation get going, this is one of the noisiest places in town.
The Food
Irish food is often maligned, but the tiny kitchen does a nice job of preparing smoked salmon imported from the Emerald Isle, and grilled salmon, lamb chops, and corned beef by the ton. The root soup's hearty blend of carrot, sweet potato and celery is perfect on a cold winter's day.
A true Irish pub. If you want Ireland, this is pretty close. The beer is delicious and the Irish whiskey keeps you healthy as well. Food here is no frills. Portions are adequate and the potatoes give reason to stop on their own. The root soup transports me back to Ireland on a cool, rainy day. True Irish atmosphere. Now where is the Guiness?
Here's a pub to add to the crawl.... County Clare is a bar located in a quaint hotel on Astor St. It's often full on Friday and Saturday nights due to the live band. It's the ONLY place in town that serves Guinness in a real pint glass and offers the proper two-part pour with a clover-design in the head. It's a fun pub to go.
