The Scene – Jovial, well-heeled crowds, lively jazz piano and the upbeat staff contribute to the convivial atmosphere of this buzzing downtown establishment. Very upscale without a hint of snootiness, Mo's manages to make every customer feel pampered. Polished wood furnishings and dim lighting--along with burnt orange- and yellow-hued walls and abstract murals--create a warm, intimate vibe. – – The Food – Tap your server's knowledge of well-kept secrets that aren't on the menu, such as exquisite ahi tuna sushi strips seared on one edge and dredged in peppercorn.…
cooking 101

My boyfriend and I had a gift certificate to Mo's, we were really excited to try it out seeing we've only
really experienced Mr. B's and Michael's house of Prime. We were there on a Friday night, seemed to
be fairly busy but not annoying.
We ordered drinks that took 10 minutes to get. We had a waiter and a waitress, which is nice if they are both attentive but completely frustrating and pointless if they aren't.
I ordered the "special" which was an 8oz fliet with scallops. The steak was good, but I ordered mine medium rare and my boyfriend ordered his medium, they got it switched which wouldn't have been a big deal but they were different cuts.
I also had a side of sauteed mushrooms that were salty and mushy. If I'm paying $180 for dinner: NAIL THE MUSHROOMS.
The scallops were the most disappointing. They were done well but completely gritty.
There's nothing more romantic than feeling sand on your teeth.
I was pretty disappointed. I can let certain things slide but Sauteing mushrooms in my
opinion is basic cooking 101.
I will stick with places like Mr. B's.
Great services and excellent steaks

I tried Mo's for the first time on a date. I thought the service was great and on top of their game. I order the filet and thought it was great. I'm a picky steak eater as I work in the cattle industry and I would recommend Mo's, as their name indicates, as "A Place for Steaks." The only downfal was that their steak selection was a bit limited for my tastes, so was their specials. I think there was one that night.
Milwaukee's Best (if not small steaks)

Mo's was a pleasant suprise. Service was strong and smart without being overbearing. Selection of wines was impressive, though a tad celebrity based (Coppola, Andretti, etc.) and was slightly overpriced. Steaks were limited, but VERY good. As a steakhouse, I was suprised that the biggest steak was a 20 oz. Seems to be a trend with steakhouses, and one that I am not thrilled about. No, Mo's does not need at 64 oz er like the Chop House in Chicago, but 20 just won't do. 32 or 36 would be nice, and possibly at Porterhouse for two would be nice (I usually order one of these for myself). The upside of the small steaks is that you have room for the sides which were all good (corn, spinach gratin and jalapeno hash), but the biggest suprise was that there was room for dessert. I am NOT a sweets guy. The Chocolate Bread Pudding is AMAZING. Best I've ever had.
Great meal topped off with a great dessert. Mo's has little to no pretension in the place. They let the food speak for itself, and the small steaks do a nice job.
- Pros: Dessert, location and service
- Cons: Small Steaks
