This cozy Mexican restaurant is the place to be when you're hungry for an enchilada at 2am..
The Scene
Set in a neighborhood full of newer and pricier Mexican spots, this venerable restaurant remains a Milwaukee favorite for its great food and reasonable prices. Now that trend-seeking diners have gone elsewhere, it's also a great south-side spot for late-night Mexican dining in a laid-back, quiet atmosphere.
The Food
All the standard Mexican favorites are on the menu, from enchiladas to fajitas. The chiles rellenos are perfect: large, smoky poblano peppers oozing melted cheese. Try the bistec ranchero, a generous portion of sliced steak smothered in a zippy ranchero sauce and dressed with outstanding guacamole and homemade salsa. Having a hard time committing to one dish? Acapulco offers a large selection of combination platters and a la carte items.
