This is a review for the Heim's in Greenfield on 74th Street. Not sure if they have a location downtown as well. I cannot stress enough how terrible Heim's Bridal has been. I went in to order a bridesmaid dress, gave the style number and color I needed. The girl at the counter showed me a photo of the dress and I confirmed it was the correct one. When I went to pick up the dress 3 months later, they had ordered the wrong one! This seems to be a frequent issue based on the other reviews. They ordered me a chiffon, long dress and I needed a short, satin dress... completely wrong. When I explained it was wrong they told me since I signed the order form, there was nothing they could do. The description on the order form was correct but they girl who worked there wrote down the wrong 8 or 10 digit sku number. Of course I don't know their sku numbers so I never questioned it. I just assumed I told them what I need, they showed me a photo, it was correct, and they ordered it.
To make matters worse, they would not return my money and I had no dress. It was too late to order a new dress and I ended up having to buy a similar dress online at the last minute. The owner would not speak to me or my lawyer and pretended to not speak english. I did prove to the manager Bernice that it was their employees fault because the description matched the photo she showed me. She agreed with me but had no control becuase she had to follow what the owner (Asian woman) said. I ended up disputing it with my credit card company and contacting the BBB. I would hate for anyone to ever have this happen to them. It was very stressful and I cannot imagine what I would have done if it were my bridal gown. I had to stand up in my best friend's wedding in a different dress. That will forever be shown in photos and caused me and the bride more stress than should ever be put on someone. Please, for your own peace of mind, do not go to Heim's Bridal.
I went in to look at wedding dresses purely on their reputation...wow was I disappointed. After getting measured for my dress, I was told that I was between a size 2 & a 4 & they suggested that I order the size 2 (which was the sample size). I ordered the 4 because the sample; which had been tried on numerous times & was stretched, was snug.
I was so excited to receive the call that my dress was in. I rushed to the store to try it on....and proceeded to cry when I could not zip it up. I was assured that it could be let out. Being too upset to discuss it further, I left & called to speak to the manager the next day. She did assure me that I was between a size 2 and a 4...in my bust, but my hips were between a 4 and a 6!! I explained that the staff wanted me to order the 2 but I ordered a size bigger & that this was not my fault that my dress did not fit. She said that the reason they instructed me as they did was because there is beading along the bust line & it would be easier to let it out through the hips. I just feel like I did not receive all of the information & I should have been allowed to send the 4 back & order the 6 without any reprocussions. It has really put a damper on my wedding excitement. Also, DO NOT have your alterations done there! They will charge you a fortune. I know a bridesmaid that spent $300 on her alterations on a bridesmaid dress!
Used to be good until the Chinese took over!. This place used to be really good when the white people were running it several years ago, after purchasing my wedding dress from them - suddenly some Chinese people took over and it went downhill from there, I couldn't understand what they were talking about most of the time and they didn't prep my dress as promised, lo and behold on my wedding day I find out that they didn't label the tie-backs on my train like they promised they'd do (They were supposed to be numbered!) and without that numbering it took my maid of honor twice as long as it should have to figure out how to tie my dress up! Of course the Chinese people didn't seem to care about that or much of anything else except my money. I would keep shopping, hopefully for a place that has people that speak ENGLISH!
Waste of time, money, and patience.. Absolutely the worst experience ever!!! They are so nice when you go in the first time. Once they have your money, they treat you like dirt. My girlfriend bought a dress that was promised to have little or no alterations. She was in getting altered 4 times!!!!! Each time, they charged more money. The owner keeps saying it is out of her hands. How is that possible if you own the store. Greed, greed, greed. I regret the day we step foot in this money pit filled with filthy liars!!!
Money-hungry sales staff. My mom came in to order a dress, the saleslady/owner measured her & said that if she goes with a certain size, she will need limited, if any alterations done at all. The dress came in & it was drastically too big. They would not send it back to get the correct size b/c they said when my mom signed the contract it stated no returns, exchanges, or refunds. (She had to sign the contract before they ordered the dress & she believed the saleslady - that it would come in the right size) So my mom got alterations done there b/c they said she would get a discount since we got our bridesmaid dresses through them. After that it was a nightmare: my mom went in for her 1st fitting & they measured & pinned. She came for her 2nd fitting & it came from being too big to being too tight. She came back for her final fitting & they installed (without asking her) two bra cups & when she put the dress on, the cups were way above her breasts (it looked like she had 2 pairs of breasts). She came in for her 2nd final fitting & they removed the cups, but the sleeves were too tight. Her 3rd final fitting: there was missing material from under her armpits. Her 4th final fitting: the back was too tight. My mom went in for her 5th final fitting & it fit her but was not pressed so she waited 1 & 1/2 hours for them to press it. We told the store that the wedding was 1 week before the actual wedding, & good thing we did b/c the 4th final fitting was scheduled on the "night before the wedding" (according to them) & it still was not ready. Instead of getting a discount for all our trouble they charged us more $ for their mistakes. The dress ended up costing more than the bride's dress.
