Still the most authentic Vietnamese. I read some of the old reviews and the comments regarding the slow service used to be true. My family and I have been going there for over 15 years. The service now is much better and faster. The people are hard working. The Pho is better than any restaurant in the area. You actually leave full unlike the new Pho places that give you such a small amount.
not worth the money at all.
about 3 years ago i went w/my friends total of 10 ppl, and they charged us tip on the receipt w/out telling us b/c you can't even read the writing on the receipt anyways. so who knows what they really charged us. so we had put tip on our table and they still charged us. when we paid, and asked what this charge was,
2nd time i ordered combo fried rice for my little girl. when we got it, the one of the meat, beef, was burnt looking. i told them that could we not have this plate. and they said we will still be charged, even tho, we didn't touch it at ALL. so it was bad service.
but overall, the service took forever. waiters were unprofessional and rude. and c'on i'm asian too, don't use the they asian so they don't know service excuse.
i prefer saigon, even tho it's like of g hetto LOL
Okay. The service is slow. The wait is usually 30- 40 min. To make the process faster, call your order ahead of time. By the time you get there your food should be ready. Nevertheless, I love there food. It's by far better than other places.
Extremely Rude and Slow Service From Waiter. I was there with my friend, her daughter and my daughter. We were there a little after noon and it was not too busy. The food took more than 30 minutes, and the server who took our order was not very friendly or welcoming from the moment we sat down. I had to ask him to take our order and he was curt about "being there soon". After 30 or 35 minutes of waiting patiently with our 4 year old daughters, I asked for a bowl of rice so that the kids could eat first. He was very short with me and said it was coming with the food. I got upset and asked that he bring the bowl of rice right away. I told him that I had been there many times before and noticed that the service was slow. He basically argued with me and said that since I came here before I should know how long the food takes at his restaurant. I felt that his behavior was inappropriate and we felt discriminated because of the fact that we had two kids with us?? We ended up staying because our kids were starving and my friend did not seem to want to leave. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I used to be a loyal supporter of this restaurant because our family enjoys good Vietnamese food. However, they are rude and arrogant and do not treat customers with respect.
Poor & dishonest business.
I went there several times. However, I found I felt uncomfortable (diarrhoea) after I had the beef rice noodle a few times. Also, in the last several times, they even charged me tips in the bill, Without notice,I ended up paying them tips twice!
Bye-bye phan's Garden!.
DISHONEST BUSINESS. They charge you tips in the check without asking you and everytime I go there, they charge 15% even when the service is poor. There's a wide selection of food but it's bland. The bathroom and kitchen are dirty. The decor looks nice but the service is unfriendly and they even served the wrong dish. I don't go there anymore.
Very Authentic. I am from a larger city and love to eat different cuisines. This restaurant is one of the best I have found in the city and very authentic. There is a good family vibe and good for groups and couples. When I am alone I order to take out. The family who owns the restaurant works there and they are very friendly and have gone out of their way to be helpful. Definitely try it out.
Authentic and tasty. Great place to try authentic vietnamses food. The resturant is a family owned and operated. Must be good if there's mostly asians eating at this place. It's not the 'first date' place, but once you start eating there, you get addicted. This is probably the only place I been to that when I came back the second time, it's still good as the first time. So well priced for the amount of food and its always busy.
Best Vietnamese in Milwaukee. been going here for years, have tried many things on their menu. I recomend B14 (spell Veitnamese?) which contains rice noodles, pork many fresh veggies. It's a chinese/american dish, seseame chicken is not the typical deep-fried stuff, best i've had anywhere, spring rolls are very fresh, the vietnamese coffee is a sweet, creamy concoction with a strong french-press type brew. Ambience: something to desire, but with the majority of the cliental being Vietnamese says something about the authenticity of the food. The staff is very helpful, and friendly. when we inquired about some traditional Vietnamese dolls on display the owner said that they weren't for sale but was traveling to Vietenam that month, She picked up 4 different ones representing the Vietnamese culture and gave them to my younger sister free, this was our 2nd time at Phans, I was amazed and grateful for their hospitality
Great Place for Vietnamese food. The food is very fresh and flavorful at a fantastic price. Can't say enough about the great flavors and value price. The decor is spartan but the food, service, and value more than make up for lack of ambience. Be adventurous and try some great new dishes for not alot of cash. Has many chinese food items on the menu as well.
