Used to work there

This james guy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. maybe he got something up his butt about the waitstaff being rude or slow or something, i don't know.
i'm unaware of how the waitstaff used to treat the costumers, as i used to work in the kitchen, but i can tell you one thing:
the food is grade A quality.
there is no pre-packaged/frozen junk used anywhere throughout the whole menu.
ok well maybe the fries, but i still thought they were good regardless.
i'm talking the sauce, the meatballs, the bread, the sausage, everything is made from scratch. even the salad dressings. how many restaurants do you know of that make their own salad dressings? most will just buy those giant cisco tub things.
the pizza crusts are hand tossed and the dough is always fresh and made from scratch. the cheese is grated fresh from big blocks and the pizza sauce is made from scratch.
most other places skimp on a thing or 2 here or there and buy it pre-packaged, but palermos doesn't cut any corners. at least not the ones that really count.
just putting my two cents in because i've always had a lot of respect for that place in their ability to not cut any corners and keep the food quality the best possible, which many people would be unaware of, as james has shown.
also i've worked for plenty of places that enjoy skimping on quality to save time/cost, so that's why i felt the need to jump in and defend them.
thanks for reading.
Worst Italian Food Ever
by james_j
Somewhere I saw a review that said "the best Italian food" in Milwaukee. Actually, Palermo Villa Restaurant, may be some of the worst I have had- at least for the price. If they knocked 3 or 4 dollars off of everything on the menu, maybe I would not be so dissatisfied, but at their prices, it is absolutely not worth it. It really takes a lot for me to take the time to write a bad review, but hopefully I can warn others of this peril.
I ordered Eggplant Parmigiana at Palermo Villa Restaurant, which consisted of frozen round eggplant patties with no taste over what also tasted like prefab red sauce. The eggplant patties really got to me- the menu advertised breaded eggplant hearts- maybe, but being generic frozen patties, who knows if it was even %100 eggplant. At $11 dollars and change, (which I fully realize is not that expensive), I was anticipating some nice fresh eggplant hearts with homemade breading- it was more like institutional school lunch. The appetizer of garlic cheese bread was also quite marginal, and was most likely generic food supply stock as well, though that was not the main problem, it's only bread right?
Finally, the service was horrible as well- some of the slowest I have experienced with only 2 four top tables in the dining room, and maybe 2 more tables outside. This place is not good, and left me feeling a ripped off. I have no problem paying a large bill when the food is good, but Palermo Villa Restaurant is a complete rip off.
- Pros: none
- Cons: that I went there at all
Best hand tossed crust pizza anywhere.
by buster98
In addition to the great hand tossed pizza crust, We would highly recommend the Florentine Pizza and the traditional Cheese, Sausage, Mushroom and Onion. Great Owner adds to the ambience. Dinners are great: The TGOC (Tomato, Garlic, Olive Oil and Cheese) sauce is exceptional and my favorite. The Sicilian Steak is excellent, too. They've been very gracious to give me TGOC sauce if I've asked to substitute their traditional sauce that comes wit the entree.
- Pros: Parking is pretty easy for the East side
- Cons: Outside seating can be a little windy
