Excellent sunday brunch. The brunch is excellent and the view is breathtaking in the spring and summer. They have excellent desserts too
Milwaukee's best French dining. I love this place. At times it can be a little intimidating and pretentious, but service and food are exceptional. Menu changes often and is always fresh and appropriate for the season. Great wine list.
Disappointing yet again..... Lake Park Bistro has great views and has done a relatively good job updating the structure that contains the restaurant. However, their translation of French cuisine is further evidence of Bartolotta's assembly line approach to their restaurants, using similar recipes and sources despite advertising specialization in culinary regions. LPB is Bartolotta's French adaptation of their menu, which is akin to saying Lincoln is Ford's adaptation to luxury driving. Our dinners included French Onion soup and seared scallops as appetizers. The former was above average, allowing the cheese to dominate the flavor, the latter was no better or worse in taste than we've had at 3 star restaurants. Main courses were steak and halibut, both of which were forgettable. The service is "French" in the fact that there is an aire to the wait staff, which is suprising in a city like Milwaukee. As opposed to true European cuisine, Bartolotta's takes the American approach; simply dressing up mediocre offerings by overpricing and cruise-line grade presentation. Do yourself a favor on this one and skip it; attend one of Milwaukee's other real fine restaurants (none of them Bartolotta's) and take a trip down to Alterra on Lincoln Memorial Drive to have a coffee on the lake. You'll have a much better culinary experience, a much better taste of Milwaukee and a few more dollars in your pocket book.
outstanding... exceeds expectations. the food here is positively brilliant and exceeded our expectations - which is rare! we had great service as well. the escargot was absolutely perfect, and the only complaint about the charcuterie plate was how fast 4 of us went through it. the beet salad was refreshing and delicious. the steak frites was perfect - the meat was tender, seasoned and cooked well, with a perfect red wine buerre sauce. there were no complaints at our table (my husband was thrilled with the asparagus salad, and the other entrees - ribeye, halibut, and duck - were all devoured with praise). absolutely stunning! we will be back soon.
A century-old park pavilion is a beautiful setting for French bistro cuisine..
The Scene
Bartolotta's Lake Park Bistro is nestled in a beautiful park pavilion overlooking Lake Michigan. The French-inspired copper bar, fireplace and cozy dining rooms transport visitors into the French countryside, as the chef's hardworking crew brings the flavor of France to Milwaukee. Reservations are recommended.
The Food
Foie gras, Brie beignet, roast lamb, filet medallions au poivre, grilled veal chop and roast monkfish stuffed with sauteed spinach and flavored with vermouth butter sauce are the menu's best choices. The New Orleans Sunday brunch is a classy three-course affair that includes appetizer choices, such as smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and shrimp-and-avocado salad with roasted peppers. Entrees include salad nicoise, baked caramelized apple pancake with sage sausage, and Bananas Foster French toast.
Romantic. Several fine dining establishments have opened in Milwaukee over the last several years. However, my favorite is still Lake Park Bistro. I take all my out-of-town guests for their Sunday brunch. On a perfect sunny day, the view is to die for. Their food and the service is outstanding.
Best Brunch. I went to Lake Park Bistro for the first time on Sunday, October 15th. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The place was very comfortable and homey. The staff was quite friendly and accomodating. Prices are a little higher then I would normally pay but the service and quality well make up for that. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was the best I have ever had. The appetizer selection and desert options complimented my entree very well. With the location and wonderful view of Lake Michigan I would highly recommend this location.
Fantastic. Dined their last night. Just wonderful! Great service! Great food! Great wine! I had the duck, My wife had the Hanger Steak. I would recommend this resturant to all of my friends. We can't waite to go back.
Disappointed. I cannot pronounce the names of the entrées and I may not have been formally attired but I still expect an appropriate return for my restaurant dollar. My wife and I were joined by family from Albany, NY to Seattle, WA and points between for the Sunday brunch (9/17/06). We had told the others that this was among the best Milwaukee had to offer. I was embarrassed by a waiter that was negligent enough to serve cold coffee and insulted by a second waiter that served desert (ice cream stuffed pastry puffs) that had fallen over on the plate, ice cream melted and now resembled slop. Flavors were great and the presentation of both the fruit plate and the main course were very good, but this was not what I expected. Next time, we will visit Pandle's in Bayside for a more reasonable price and more attentive wait staff.
