It was a great place when Lyle Sobczak ran it. Don't know the current owners. Have not had a chance to stop in under the new management.

There is nothing sadder than a good place gone bad.

Tanner Paull had a fish fry I used to recommend to anyone who would listen. Not anymore. What used to be a light flaky fish with a delicate coating is now a solid chunk of dry stringy fish more suitable as a building material than something meant to be eaten by humans. The coating tastes the same but is so solidly adhered to the chewy fish as to resemble more the glazing on a spongy brick than the delicate lightly crunchy coating it used to be.

My wife ordered the combo chicken and fish dinner and was sorely disappointed. Instead of getting a succulent piece of fried chicken, as she had received on previous occasions, she was served a chicken strip, an obviously commercially prepared one, that was so tough and dry I had to help her cut it.

I am a big man with a bigger appetite. For the first time in my adult life I walked away from an all you can eat fish fry with fish still on my plate. Not because I was full but because I could not even contemplate eating another piece. it was seriously that bad.

The service was haphazard more from an obvious lack of training than a lack of effort of the staff's part.

Other downfalls were being served ketchup in little portion cups. I guess we weren't old enough to have a bottle at our table. Ditto tartar sauce.

What really hurts was the the wasting of the money. We have a limited income and this was our treat for the month. I don't mind scrimping and doing without so we can have the occasional nice meal out but this was a waste of all of that sacrifice. That hurts.

Great Food Great Service. I have recently visited Tanner-Paull banquet hall and restaurant. The restaurant has gone through a substantial remodel. It is clean and inviting. I had the barbeque ribs. These ribs fell off the bone and had the right amount of smoke and perfect sauce. I will recommend Tanner Paull to anyone that wants a great meal at workman prices. They have a great bar and music!

Now open and under new management.... Glad to hear it's open again...as I LOVED the walleye and ordered it weekly from previous owner.

I was very dissapointed to hear that walleye is not on the menu. When I called in to place my to-go order, the person on the phone was very unpleasant -- actually rude and I definitely did not hear a "smile in their voice".

I guess my search for awesome walleye will continue as I will not be calling this restaurant again.

Fried chicken dinner was awesome. What a turn around this place has done!!! My compliments to the chef. Tonight was the all you can eat fried chicken and mashed potatoes, this place was packed!!! Great prices and great food, I am definitely going back and would recommend it to everyone. If this is how good it's going to be, I can't wait to try the Sunday brunch.

Best Fish Fry in town. It is back to the great fish fry it used to be. It is not greasy, it is just the perfect taste.

The restaurant has been remodeled, looks great. The new owners are very personal, friendly and want you to enjoy your meal.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. They remodeled and the food is great. Great prices and great food. They have a special every day of the week.

Ick. Not very good at all. Bathroom was dirty, staff was rude, food was blah. Would only recommend to someone I didn't like. Definitely has gone down hill.

Tanner Paull Restaurant. I would not reccomend at all. Since the change of owners, the restaurant has gone down hill in terms of quality of food, care for the ambience in the restaurant and the employees. I used to be a frequent visitor of Tanner Paull however due to recent visits in the past few weeks/months I will not be returning, and again, would not recommend to friends family or even strangers

Great place to go for a fish fry. I can't speak for the experience of the first reviewer. I know the new owners and it's hard for me to believe that he would throw a hissy fit in front of customers. All banquet halls have contracts you will sign, and rules you need to follow, especially if they serve their own food. You're not only paying for the food, but for the use of the hall, their equipment, their employees, the electric bill, the heat, the air conditioning, etc. Bottom line, read the contract and know what you're committing to, and what you can and cannot do on their property, and what you can and cannot bring onto their property.

As with anything in life, you can't please all the people all of the time, and there are always 2 sides to every story, so the smart thing to do is not rely on the negative opinion of one person to be your deciding factor on whether or not to try this place out. Go for a fish fry and see for yourself!

They have a great Friday fish fry (try the beer-battered fish, it's excellent, plus there are other choices such as cod and walleye...they serve more than just one thing, even chicken for the non-fish eaters). They also have great buffet selection, as well as nice banquet facilities, and have expanded their menus/service to include lunches during the week. I for one plan on having my wedding reception at their hall. I have absolutely no doubts or reservations about their food, hall or service whatsoever!
