Shopping >Havanna Lounge & Cigar
A lot of potential, but....
The place is alright, but they need to:
1. Get rid of the huge televisions everywhere... if you want to be a sports bar, fine, but if you're trying to be a classy cigar lounge, ditch the tv's. It's kind of hard to have a conversation with huge tv's all over the place. Can't one go anywhere these days without being bombarded with some football game?
2. Change the music. When I was there, they were playing this loud R&B music. I thought this was a "Havana Lounge". There's something to say about atmosphere, and the music kind of ruined it. Some 1950's tropicana styled music would have been perfect.
3. This isn't so much the fault of the lounge, but I went there with a buddy and we were dressed nicely, but noticed everyone else wearing Packer's sweatshirts and baseball caps. COME ON PEOPLE! I know this is West Allis, but when will adults learn how to dress for an occasion!?? Get some class! Many people were sitting around the televisions watching the game, as though this were a local corner street bar. Again, folks need to learn when to change it up for a different setting. Is sloppy casual the default style of Wisconsin? What happened to dressing up a bit when you hit the town?
4. The woman at the bar was nice, but she never came over to ask us if we wanted another drink.
I will say the ashtrays were nice.
My home away from home.
I love this cigar shop. So much better then places like Prime Cigar, or Famous. First off, reading the reviews below are laugh outloud funny. The owner is such a great guy. He always treats me a friendly hello, and offers his advice on what type of smoke I should try, based on my taste. Now, a typical owner, you would think, would push his "expensive" selections on you, not Jack. He's always trying to get your the most bang for your buck.
His selection is awesome, anything from Cohiba, to Fuente, to CAO, to Olivia to Montecrisco, to even ACID... you name it, he's got it... and the prices are wonderful. Some cigar shops charge nearly double of what Jack does... and treats you like a customer. Every time I check out, jack treats me like a friend. Offering free matchs, cigar cutters, and yes, even cigars to the "regulars" that frequent his store.
Best in the area...
I was so impressed with the overall experience my first visit-Comfort, clean, friendly, Great selection & reasonable prices, I came back the very next evening. Free Internet, 3 big screens, 4 huge smoke purifiers, Knowledgeable with which beers go with what cigars when asked. & very comfortable chairs !!
Best Around By Far !!!!
Should be called the Attitude Lounge. I have to say I agree with Jeffrey! I was really disappointed with the negative attitudes displayed by the women I spoke to and one of the smarmy patrons. The woman that I asked for help from was a middle aged cougar trying to look sixteen with a big chip on her shoulder who assumed I knew nothing about cigars! Then as I was checking out, a man to my left asked what brand of one of the cigars I bought was, when told he smirked and snickered. This upset me because these people have know idea of my experience! During the early 90's when serving in the Navy a friend of mine and I used to get contraband cigars while at Gitmo (Cuba) and sell them to officers and other sailors, making more money than from our Navy salaries. Just a fun anecdote. Although this smoking lounge was very clean with a great humidor, with a very nice selection, I will not return there. If I had more time I would have just walked out and gone somewhere else! The best cigar I ever enjoyed was one I rolled myself in Kohler, Wi. with the owner of Olive & Ash, it was incredible! Of course the cougar had something negative to say about that as well! I know it was a great cigar because I smoked it with a friend of mine who is a millionaire and has the opportunity to smoke many quality cigars and to this day he says that one I rolled at Olive & Ash is still the best cigar he ever enjoyed! When this place has to shut the doors because they have no clientele maybe they'll re-think their attitudes!
Havana Lounge is the place to go.. I have been going to Havana Lounge for about a year now, and I must say it is by far my favorite cigar lounge. The humidor is always well stocked and I have gotten some great referrals on cigars to try. The lounge is always clean and it is never smokey. The atmosphere is friendly and there are generally a few regulars, who, along with the experienced and helpful staff, create a warm and casual experience. They have a variety of activities and tastings to round things out. If you are looking for an enjoyable cigar experience, Havana Lounge is the place to go.
Over-Priced Cigars and Snobby People. Havana has over-priced cigars, an arrogant staff, and snobby clubby atmosphere. Theres nothing worse than being treated like lower class and not part of the click when you walk in to buy a cigar !!
