Epic Take Out Failure.
DO NOT ORDER OUT- EVER!!!
KOPP'S failed to live up to their reputation when my office called the Glendale location with a carry out order for the following reasons:
1. The custard was melted when we opened it 10 minutes after purchase. It has been in our freezer for almost 2 hours now and has solidified to the consistency of stew. Since it was packaged with the hot food part of our order, we can only assume that they packaged it well in advance of our arrival and continued to melt during the short car ride after pickup.
2. Inadequate Food Labeling- Our food arrived wrapped in numbered paper, with each item having a number circled that must correspond with an internal Kopp’s identification system. These numbers do NOT correspond with menu items like a #8 meal, etc. Kopp’s Management, did it ever occur to you to LABEL IN ENGLISH carry out items so that people don’t have to poke through bags and bags of sandwiches to figure out which item is what.
3. Include detailed descriptions on your online menu. If we had known that their Buffalo Chicken included “Hot Celery” we would have ordered it without the nasty cooked seasoned veggies. Actually, don’t order the sandwich at all, since Kopp’s buffalo sauce is more like chili-seasoned tomato water that bathes the entire sandwich in a pool of hot red mess.
4. Order –taking: 25% of our call in order was wrong. Sandwiches that were ordered without mayo came with mayo and none of the chicken sandwiches came with the cheese we paid extra for.
For these reasons, I will never order anything carryout from Kopp’s again. I will never order a chicken menu item. Sadly, I doubt that I will ever sing Kopp’s praises either.
Try the Chicken Caliente Sandwich. I haven't really tried the custard but the Chicken Caliente Sandwich is phenomonal. It's basically a sandwich with chicken, wing sauce, and jalapenos. Amazing! The fries are good too.
Creamy yummy custerd !!. The frozen custard is the greatest. I always go there for the strawberry shortcake custard. They keep a great theme for each month and for each day. So it?s interesting to have your favorites and different days to go and try it out. The burgers are fresh and tasty. If you can eat a lot and Huge portions the burgers here are your thing. Creamy yummy custard
Great burgers, buffalo chicken sandwich, and custard. I have always enjoyed the burgers..big, messy, fantastic. Once you have a burger, go back and try the buffalo chicken sandwich. It's even bigger than the burgers, smothered in a spicy buffalo sauce, topped with celery and blue cheese. Probably, best item lots of people have not tried. Pricewise, not the cheapest, but well worth the expence. Custard is good and creamy. i bring friends from out of town here...have not had one complaint. Also the fries are fantastic!!
Kopps Rocks!. A great atmosphere with a squeaky clean and fully observable kitchen. The burgers are phenomenal. Then there is the custard and shakes- the best and made from scratch in front of you! There are enough Kopps around town to avoid McDonalds, Burger King and all the other mega chains for good and you should! Kopps is also well priced! 10 out of 10!
Kopps. Huge messy burgers. Its quite the treat. And the custard is awesome. We make an event of it once every month.
This dense, rich and flavorful custard is found at three distinct and memorable locales..
The Scene
Kopp's three locations are visual feasts themselves. The Brookfield locale is nicknamed "Temple" Kopp's for the sprawling space that needs only stained-glass windows and a choir to convert it into a church. The "Garrison" Kopp's in Greenfield contains collages made from cannonballs, holes in the walls, barbed-wire vines and an outdoor seating area with a high-tech waterfall. Kopp's "Hacienda" in Glendale is straight out of "Zorro"--brick floors, stucco, Spanish-style doors and windows.
The Food
The dense custard is rich and flavorful. Traditional vanilla and chocolate are joined by a third, rotating flavor of the day. On Thursdays, a fourth flavor is added, with the proceeds going to UNICEF. Kopp's best includes caramel-cashew, burgundy-cherry and summer passion. But custard isn't the only mouthwatering draw--the burgers and sandwiches are made to order and easily serve two. Go light on the special sauce, it tends to overpower the flavor of the burgers.
Go for burgers-stay for custard. I have been a loyal Kopp's patron for many years and have always enjoyed their burgers. I think their fries are incredible and the custard is out of this world. I do have to say that their Malts need to actually have a Malt flavor in them though. Sometimes I stop for the flavor of the day, but when approaching the door I find that I'm craving a burger. The smell of burgers and onions fill your senses and usually encourage you to order that first. YUM!
GREAT CUSTARD. Cute small ice cream shop. Great huge burgers. Extensive sundae menu. GREAT FOOD
It's not cheap or good!. I don't understand the attraction of Kopp's. Yes the burgers are big, but they are awful! If you want sonething a little different, the chicken sandwiches are way overpriced. The cones are priced well and you get a lot of custard, but sundae's are really up there in price if you want something special (like a Turtle Sundae). I know there are a lot of people who will not agree, but I think it's just plain overrated! It's living off a reputation established 30 years ago. It no longer lives up to that reputation.
