Editorial Review for Kopp's Frozen Custard Stand – by Elaine Berstrom
The Scene
Kopp's three distinct locations are visual feasts in themselves. The Brookfield locale is nicknamed "Temple" Kopp's for the sprawling space that would need only stained glass windows and a choir to convert it into a church. The "Garrison" Kopp's in Greenfield contains collages made from cannonballs, holes in the walls, barbed wire vines, and an outdoor seating area with a high-tech waterfall. Kopp's "Hacienda" in Glendale is straight out of a Zorro flick--brick floors and stucco, Spanish-style doors and windows.
The Food
The dense custard is rich and flavorful. Traditional vanilla and chocolate are joined by a third, rotating flavor of the day. On Thursdays, a fourth flavor is added, with the proceeds going to UNICEF. Kopp's best includes caramel cashew, burgundy cherry and summer passion. But custard isn't the only mouthwatering draw--their burgers and sandwiches are made to order and easily serve two. Go light on the special sauce: It tends to overpower the flavor of the burgers.

Ive been going to Kopp's for years and I think they just keep gettin better and better. My 4 yr old said he was really hungry. well after that he could only finish half the burger and said "mom Im really full" now thats good LoL my 12 yr old had a double and kept eating so as far as people saying "I couldnt finish my burger" it's all on urself dont blame the establishment, they are only doing their job and the burgers is what makes Kopp's so dayum good.

I grew up in Milwaukee I have had both Solly's and Kopps burgers, and by far would recommend anyone visiting Milwaukee to try a burger from Kopps over Solly's. You will not leave hungry! I also highly recommend the fries, they have great flavor. The only con is that there is no table seating...about 5 standing tables to eat at at the Layton location. You can eat inside the Kopps in Brookfield, but they only have benches to sit on. Everyone I bring from out of town has enjoyed their Kopps burger. Another surprise is their buffalo chicken sandwich. It comes with a surpisingly spicy buffalo sauce, chopped celery, and bleu cheese all with a nice piece of grilled chicken breast. My wife loves it. Custard is great, highly recommend the tiramisu and grasshopper! Make sure you grab a lot of napkins!!
Pros: huge, tasty burgers, fries, and buffalo chicken sandwich, multiple locations, good/quick service
Cons: No in restaurant seating; eat in car or take home
