Stay away, they will scam you out of your money!.
We first visited Tuckaway Animal Hospital on Oct 22, 2010 for initial shots and skin problems for our dog Buddy. The veterinarian Dr. Angela Wedemayer said he showed signs of skin mites, but diagnosed him with a skin infection, and prescribed an antibiotic. We were also told to change his diet and purchase an oatmeal shampoo to treat the dandruff.
Two weeks later Buddy was scratching himself raw so we came back. Dr. Wedemayer still thought this was skin mites so she performed a skin scraping, which came back negative, but offered two types of ointment. We was told by purchasing the lot of medicine it would kill the mites, which we did we wanted to help our puppy.
Now the problems are only getting worse. I have done research which showed the skin mites run on a three week cycle; even if the medicine would have worked we were not given enough to kill the whole cycle. We called Tuckaway for help and have been given a run around for three weeks, told to call and speak to a supervisor, who could not be reached. Finally, a receptionist told us they would not help, not even a collar to make him stop scratching his face.
Today we took the dog to a new vet. We were told that none of the medicine would have ever fixed the problem, only delay the symptoms. In fact, the only medicine that will kill the mites and heel Buddy is a Mitaban dip which has to be given once a week for three weeks. This was never even suggested.
We are upset that we have spent nearly $170 for medicine that a veterinarian should know would never stop the problem. The worst of it all is that Tuckaway “diagnosed” Buddy, knowing that we would have to come back, charging more money. At what point does this stop? If the Matabin dip is the only treatment that would kill the mites and stop the problem, why were we never told this? It has been over two months, had the well known correct treatment been given from the start, my dog would be heeled by now.
Very Friendly and Knowledgeable. I was very happy with this veterinary clinic compared to my last one. The staff was very friendly, the doctors were very knowledgeable and the clinic was very clean, the prices were also very reasonable compared to other clinics that I shopped around at. I would recommend this place to anyone that is need of a great veterinary clinic to goto.
not happy with this clinic. I took my dog to this clinic and was very unhappy. I did not understand anything the Vet was saying about my dog. He talked me into test that I later found out was not needed! I got a quote for a SIMPLE surgery of $800.00 to $1,200.00. I took my dog to another Vet and had the SAME surgery done for $200.00!
Fantastic.
First off having been to many clinics within the area I have to say that this Hospital is by far the cleanliest. Having been going there for years these are the things I have noticed.
They take the time to Mop and Vacuum the floors every day. Anytime my pet or others pets have had accidents they are quick to clean and mop up the area in a timely fashion.
When it comes to any kind of medical service be it animals or human medicine there is always a wait period. With TAH and any other clinic it is the same. However when comparing TAH vs others in my own experience I would have to say they are responsive and not only greet me when I walk in but being a long time costumer know who I am.
Dollar wise TAH is one of the best around they do not sacrifice care at all even for being fair about there prices. While many clinics honestly overcharge on any little tidbit even some giving a CHARGE For Seeing a technician this is not the case with TAH. Whenever i do have a question about the shots given or charges received the receptionist are always happy and helpful to fill me in and explain everything even if the doctor had already explained it to me.
A few years ago when I was out of a job and my cat broke his leg. TAH Manager took the time to assist me in getting Care Credit. Something quite a few clinics do not do. It is a credit card for your pets health bills. My limit on the card was only around 600 dollars but the surgery would have been much more. Seeing my situation and understanding that I am a honest person and truly care for my pet. The manager Lowered the surgery cost to what the amount was on the card. I am forever grateful to this hospital. Without them I wouldn't have my cat today.
