Close to downtown, this kingdom of beastly critters and natural habitats rewards a short drive with realistic safari sights..
Facts
Emphasizing natural habitats, the Milwaukee County Zoo features forests and prairies where herbivores play and carnivores
are separated from their wandering lunch by hidden moats. An aquarium and reptile center focuses on aquatic creatures found in Wisconsin. More than 300 species are spread out across 200 acres meant to re-create the animals' natural environments.
Features
Take in a playful wrestling match between bear cubs, see the necking giraffes, observe the paddling penguins and watch chimpanzees swinging from branch to branch. The perfect day includes ice-cold lemonade from the Flamingo Cafe and strolling the grounds with an ice cream cone. From domestic farm animals to exotic creatures from around the world, families can learn more about the animal kingdom together.

the same since I was a kid.
and that is a good thing! It's a great zoo. If you plan to visit more than once a season, buy a zoo pass. It will probably cost you less.
