The Scene
Many of Milwaukee's Greek restaurants have discovered gold in family dining and forsaken their roots in quest of the dining dollar, but the Apollo Cafe stands true to its ethnic identity. Bright and cheerful, this self-service restaurant in the latest competitor in Brady Street's multicultural festival of flavors. The outdoor area is reminiscent of downtown Athens with a vibrant atmosphere conducive to enjoying well-prepared food.
The Food
The food here is authentic home cooking made from Grandma's recipes, including flaming saganaki, gyros from the rotisserie, spanakopita (flaky spinach pie), flavorful dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), and fresh tuna souvlaki served on pita. Save room for a demitasse of rich Greek coffee and a slice of baklava.
Dish to Die For
The Horiatiki Village salad with cucumbers, tomato, onions, feta cheese and calamata olives is a must.

I love this place, there is one guy who seems to be working everytime I have been here (give or take a few) he is truly a very nice person and knows how to give great service, and the product.....the gyros are great, the meat is tender, the pita is soft and pillowy. Very very good. I know people talk about Oakland Gyros and somehow they have been voted the best by some committee but obviously this committee has never tried Apollo. They also have late hours so if you have that "late night craving" for a gyro this is the place to try.

If you like Greek food, no doubt you'll love Apollo. It's a family run business with very speedy and good service. If you choose to dine in or dine out, you never have to wait long for your food. The place is very clean and it's painted beautifully! They have great Gyros at a low cost. I can never even finish them. Every day they have specials, including a vegetarian special. I think I've tried about everything on the menu and love it all. Besides juice and soda, they also serve wine and you have your choice between Greek and American coffee. Just writing about it makes me want to stroll on down there!
