pretty cheap and good. better than average mexican, a little bit dirtier than i would have hoped a bit . Liked the chips service

Botanas has changed - not for the better!. Stopped for dinner the other night about nine. Waitstaff said they were closing early, but the manager said they would serve us as there were other patrons in the restaurant, so we stayed.

Ordered drinks and fajitas. Everything came at once - the drinks, the food...and the bill! Soon the other patrons left and the waiter asked us to pay, so they could close the till. He returned with the change and a styrofoam container and told us they were closing and asked if we wanted to take the food home with us!

I don't think we were in the restaurant for more than 20 or 25 minutes!

They must've wanted the quick buck and don't care about their reputation.

Rude service makes this a total deal-killer. With food only on par with others - skip this place and try one of the many friendly Mexican restaurants in the area.

First visit, turning into another with my date. I love mexican food, and was so impressed with everything. The drinks were strong, and even with eating I left with a little buzz. The aura of the place is amazing, and romantic a little if you get the right table. Jaime, I am bringing my date, and I want to test the real thing with him, since he is latino, I am sure he will love it too!

Look up at ceiling and at walls. As the title suggests, the walls and the ceilings fill you with a curious feeling as you walk into the restaurant. There are Aztec looking paintings as well as sculptures. They add an interesting twist to the restaurant's ambience. The food is good, filling, and relatively inexpensive, without being out of the world. We met a very friendly, English-savvy, and prompt waiter. The presence of ample parking is a boon.

The seating can be a little crowded and you may find yourself fighting for elbow room with the next set of guests.

best mexican in Milwaukee. My friends and I go to Botanas almost every weekend. The staff is fabulous, especially the owner, who comes to our table each visit.

The food comes so fast that we always order our delicious margaritas much earlier than our food, so we have ample time to enjoy them. Food is cheap, and great.

Mesquite-grilled Mexican entrees thrill adventurous diners.. The Scene
Bright Mayan-themed art graces the walls, ceiling and menu. The waitstaff speak more Spanish than English, and service is prompt, friendly and attentive.

The Food
A large order of crab meat seviche offers a refreshing beginning with the right mixture of lime juice and sweet crab. For vegetarians, chili espanoles made with grilled sweet red peppers stuffed with cheese, is a flavorful alternative to the fried chilies rellenos. The bistec machacado and puerco in salsa verde feature generous, well-seasoned portions of tender meat. Meals are accompanied by beans, rice and tortillas, but the chips preceding the meal--perfectly toasted and served with a fresh, medium-hot salsa--are too tasty to resist.

Try Botana's it worth the trip!!. My family visits Botana's frequently becuase it is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee. The food, service and value is second to none. We love Botana's!!

So much food for your buck!. The atmosphere may not appeal to all, but I've never received so much food, so promptly, and at such a fair price. Also, the enchilada soup is to die for.
