Snore..
I just wrote a review for Roots, which I visited on the same evening I visited Sauce. I would like to say that I enjoyed one of the restaurants, but they were equally disappointing in the level of boredom I experienced. First of all, same old cliched, tired "fusion" food. I'm so sick of the same old flavors: mango (which I adore) everywhere, standard French dishes adulterated with "exotic" "flair." And if I have to look at one more menu with a Chocolate Martini I'm going to fall into a coma on the spot.
Is there any originality in this city? If there is, you certainly won't find it in the Third Ward--cream city brick, exposed beams, some metal beams thrown in here or there, and no tampon machine in the womens' room. The seating (tables and chairs) are cold and institutional. The fireplace is nice, but cramped by a weird bench seat for anyone brave enough to sit there on display.
It's a let down. You would have a more creative and interesting experience at a KFC.
Finally, there is no parking. The brilliant urban planners of the Third Ward packed the area with apartments and condos and totally forgot about parking for residents. That means the business district is aching for parking. You might find a spot after driving around for an hour, but by then you have starved to death.
Romantic. Great atmosphere, great for a romantic date. This restaurant was very easy to find and the service was amazing. We were seated right away and it took us longer to decide what to drink because they had so many options......a good thing. The food portions were good and the taste to die for.
Upscale & trendy. Entrees and salads that you will not find on other menus - amazing flavors. Tables can get a little cozy, but the meals make it worth it.
Keeps getting better. Hadn't been to Sauce in sometime and was very pleased to find the restaurant continually evolving. Great new seasonal menu and new martinis.
Aged like a fine wine. I recently visited Sauce and was pleasantly surprised to find that the high quality of food and service has not changed since I first visited the restaurant. Apparently they recently celebrated their five year anniversary, and it's not for nothing that they are still open after all that time. The food was scrumptious- it was an entirely different menu than I remembered from last time, and the wine list was more impressive than I remember it being. The server was extremely helpful in a wine recommendation. Excellent service, food and atmosphere.
Fashion-conscious sophisticates flock to this upscale restaurant/bar in the trendy Third Ward..
In Short
The huge glass-panel front window is actually a garage door that opens up for outdoor dining in the summer. For winter, there's a wood-burning fireplace. Whatever the season, this cool space caters to a trend-setting crowd. Original artwork by local artists covers the brick walls. The menu is contemporary American, and each dish is prepared with its own sauce. After hours, Sauce turns into a swank lounge, with occasional live music and nightly drink specials.
Great Place. Food was great, martinis were awesome! We all had a lot of fun!!
Yummmmmy. Sauce is one of the best and most fun restaurants around. The atmosphere is fun and light, but the the trendy tables and decor make it a great restaurant to go to for special occasions. The entire front wall is a glass garage door that is open on nice days to give the illusion that you are right outside. The service is excellent and the food delicious! Each sauce and entree is made fresh for the orderer and nothing is just thrown together. The drinks are famous (you HAVE to try the Chocolate Martini) for a good reason! Go there NOW!
