The Scene – The atmosphere is pure France, from the food to the coffee bar to the French-only wine list to the newsstand and tobacco shop. For coffee, stop up front. For brunch or dinner, head to the back or all the way outside to the patio (heated in the winter). For a nighttime bar scene, head upstairs. Menus are provided, but keep an eye on the chalkboard for current lists of wine, champagne, beer, cheese and daily specials. – – The Food – Weekend brunch is a favorite here--with good reason. The coffee is strong and dark, served with a cube of imported sugar and a…

Best Brunch in Milwaukee

by JaySeuffert

I ate the Breakfast Burger. Awesome! It's literally a giant cheeseburger with scrambled eggs on it. I was visiting family in Milwaukee and this was my sister's recomendation. She's big on brunches so I followed her lead. Trocadero has plenty of traditional brunch options in the French style. Make sure you have breakfast potatoes with whatever you get. The Bloody Mary is better in Milwaukee than any other city in the U.S. and Trocadero stands in with plenty of options here too. Throw a couple of those down!

  • Pros: Parking was cake
  • Cons: Can't say, really

Good outdoor dining; good brunch

by jayoldenburg

I like the restaurant for brunch and after work and weekend drinks. The summer atmosphere is great. The food is pretty good but make sure you look at the menu before dining. If you are in the mood for crepes, you will not be disappointed. If you think the menu suits your tastes, you will enjoy your dining experience.

  • Pros: Excellent outdoor dining, good drink specials
  • Cons: Service can leave things to be desired; meal quality is varialbe

One of my top picks!

by marc4fun

This place is great. Having lived in New York and being from Chicago when my wife and I move to MKE we were consistently disappointed by the dinning experience. This place however was a breathe of fresh air. Good food, a trendy (but friendly) crowd we've really enjoyed the few times we've gone there. Even now with our 9 month old baby the staff is great with us and her and we've enjoyed the "scene" there. In fact we went there for Mothers day with my infant daughter and my grandmother and we all loved it and had a great time. The patio is a nice break and off the beaten path so you don't have to sit on a high traffic sidewalk like other places with "outdoor seating". Only thing I would suggest is that they should implement a no smoking policy.

  • Pros: Good food, Good Patio, friendly crowd and wait staff
  • Cons: the occasional inconsiderate smoker.

The Details on Trocadero

What to Drink:

Go for a Mandarin Madras to get your Saturday or Sunday started: Absolut Mandrin with orange and cranberry juices. The bloody mary is terrific, served with a seven-ounce Heineken.

Look Good:

The rich and dense flourless espresso-chocolate cake is the perfect way to top off a meal, with some of Trocadero's strong coffee.
