Best lunch ever! – Had the basil chicken club. Excellent flavor; Had enough to take home 1/2. Great value for the money. Our waiter was attentive and explained all the questions I had asked. Can't wait to come back for dinner.
Excellent Food, service and atmosphere – Takes old classics and puts a worldly twist on them. The food is fresh and prepared well. Oh and you get plenty of food, bring your appetite or be sure to make space in your fridge before you leave the house.
Excellent Brunch....Top Quality – My wife and I decided to try brunch there about 2 months ago. The menu was packed with mouth watering items and I could not decide which one to try.
I gave the banana foster french toast and I was not disappointed. My only compliant is that I could not eat it all because the portion was huge.
My wife order the eggs benedict and it was melt in your mouth delicious.
We have been back multiple times since the first visit and have yet to be disappointed. Nothing bad to say about this place. We are now regulars on the weekends.
One of my favorite restaurants – The Palms is one of my favorite places down in the Third Ward. The food is always reliable, unique, and decently priced. Plus, they offer a great variety, so I can go there and get almost anything I'm in the mood for. I especially love their fish specials--I think they have some of the best seafood in Milwaukee. Plus their individual pizzas are to die for--try the one with the artichoke. I still miss the asian slaw they took off the menu, but the new one's almost as good. I've also had some delicious soups there--very high quality. In addition to great food, the atmosphere is very upbeat and artsy.
Oh one more thing--I've had consistently superior service there. Their wait staff is well trained and personable, and the level of service is far above average. I would recommend this place to anyone--and frequently do!
Okay food, poor service – I would not go to the Palms Bistro again. The food was decent, but I've had much better for cheaper. In addition, the service was poor. It took too long to get the attention of the waitress, which I can live with. But I ordered a lemonade with dinner, and at one point the waitress took the empty glass away and brought back a full one. When the bill came, I found out that I was charged for both lemonades, at $3 each. This would be fine if I had asked for a refill, or perhaps even if the waitress had asked if I wanted another one. But neither of these things happened.
Since we in a group of 9 people, an 18% gratuity was included. Normally I would not mind, as I usually tip 20%, but I do not appreciate having my ability to dock the tip for poor service taken away. I realize this is standard practice for large groups, but when an establishment does this and the service is far below par, it is enough to keep me from returning.
gave it a few chances, and it just doesn't improve. – I've been to the palms a handful of times, and I each time I go, I give it another chance, hoping it gets better. But after lunch yesterday, I won't go back - ever. I work for a large company downtown and went at 11:15 for lunch with 5 coworkers. We were the first people in for lunch and it took us FOREVER to just get our waitesses attention. The soup took forever, the food took forever, the bill took forever. Remember, we were the only ones in the place for a good 10 minutes. We literally had to yell to her across the room a few times to get her attention. It was bad, and really frustrated each of us. Go next door to Swig or Wicked Hop.
Eat great food with chimps! – I found Palms Bar & Bistro to have great prices and a refreshingly unique menu. I especially enjoyed my martini which I drank right along side a portrait of a chimpanzee with a yellow tie also drinking a martini. The entire restaurant is filled with paintings of chimps in wacky costumes. I did some research and found out that the artists are two local women Catherine Richardson and Jennifer Ingram (the restaurant has business cards on hand). Both are amazing artists.
Very Tasty food – I was visiting from Chicago, and was impressed at the prices, the quality of the food and restaurant itself. It seemed like a fairly well priced place. I loved my brie burger.
Some of the chairs are uncomfortable, if you eat there avoid the leopard print ones.
