Nice Apartments In The Third Ward.
Reading through reviews of Milwaukee apartments, it seems like the few cranks (always a one or two everywhere) are the only ones leaving reviews. All said & done - at the Jefferson Block Apartments - the neighbors I've met are friendly & courteous.
I enjoyed my 2-years @ Jeffeson Block. Yes, the downtown location gets busy & noisy during the 10 days of Summerfest. Otherwise, the building & neighborhood are walkable and quiet.
While I wasn't allowed to have 2 indoor parking spaces for my 1-bedroom apartment, that's not the biggest issue. There are a number of off-street parking options less than a stone's throw away from the building.
Management is friendly, they deliver packages to my apartment when I'm not able to receive them & they make a conscientious effort to quickly respond to maintenance requests.
I was charged for carpet cleaning & stove cleaning @ move-out. Admittedly, the carpets & stove needed it. ...honestly, I think they could've charged for more cleaning since I didn't have time to thoroughly clean the apartment myself.
As far as apartments go, this was a very good rental experience.
Great Location for Long-Term Rental.
I had a very good experience at this apartment complex. Responsive management & timely maintenance.
Relocated to Milwaukee & the office staff was helpful getting me situated and referring me to nightlife & restaurants in the area. After 2+ years, I was transferred out of Milwaukee; Jefferson Block was very accommodating to re-rent the apartment - quick & painless.
Third Ward is one of the best neighborhoods in Milwaukee. Many restaurants, cafes, and theaters in walking distance, even in the dead of Winter there's activity.
Overpriced and difficult management.
While rental options are somewhat limited in the 3rd ward, I'd strongly recommend that renters avoid Jefferson Block if at all possible.
During my stay in Jeff Block, the management was extremely difficult to deal with. Having lived in a number of managed complexes, I have a minimum expectation for management and Jefferson Block was consistently below expectation. Rent was substantially hiked every year for existing tenants- perhaps they can't find new ones, coupled with incorrect late fees, unresponsive management and lack of timely communication on break-ins and major maintenence. And I can't forget the water pipes exploding and the random fire alarms going off for extended periods of time.
Several friends and coworkers used to live in the building, and none of them received their security deposit back. It seems doubtful that ALL of them destroyed their apartments to the tune of $500+ in repairs.
If you want endless frustration and to throw your money away, rent in J-Block! My time here has inspired me to buy!
