Run for Your Life !!!!. Went there for dinner last night. The Milwaukee rubber knife mafia were sitting in the corner smoking cigars. The husband of my friend asked "Anthony" to put out the cigar because his wife has asthma. The man's response was "how would you like it if I told you to go f*** yourself." Needless to say, a verbal confrontation broke out, with the mafia man screaming "do you know who I am? I f****** own this place. You're lucky I don't Rip your f****** arms off of your f****** body." Really??? Meanwhile this place was empty on a Friday night. This is not a restaurant, it's a money laundering establishment. People are getting paid off to keep this place open. Do not go there.
Never again at the Savoy Restaurant.
NEVER AGAIN AT THE SAVOY RESTAURANT!
Having been to the Savoy Restaurant a few times for after-work cocktails we decided to try them for dinner. We asked another couple to join us. Arrived at 5:45pm for a 6:00pm reservation. A drink at the bar and seated at a table at 6:20pm. So far so good. Food arrived and three of the four dishes (2 veal picatta and one beef sandwich) were mediocre at best. Very mundane taste and presentation. We had two more drinks each as we leisurely discussed common interests. We paid our bill and proceeded to finish the last of our drinks. At 7:50pm, a mere 90 minutes after starting our dining experience, our waitress came to the table and stated “I know I told you to stay at your table as long as you liked but I will have to ask you to leave because the manager told me we need this table. We have 4 chairs reserved for you at the bar.” I looked around the room and found that there were 6 empty 4 seat tables, one 8 seat table and three booths were also empty. There were only two people seated at the bar so it was obvious there was no one waiting for our particular table. When I told the waitress we were almost done with our drinks she restated “I’m sorry but the manager says you have to leave the table”. I and my wife, having been the ones who asked our guests to dinner, were never more embarrassed at an eating establishment in our lives. We had just spent $160.00 at this restaurant and here they were interrupting our enjoyable conversation and ordering us to leave our table. Obviously they were trying to “hustle” us to the bar to get more of our money. BEWARE! This restaurant is run by some extremely rude, unconscionable amateur restaurateurs out to take your money and treat you like thrown out garbage!
Old School Charm.
I don't normally write reviews but because there are a few bad ones here I feel obligated to set the record straight.
There has been a major overhaul at this place so if you haven't been there in the last month you should really give it another chance.
They have a new menu that is fantastic along with a Happy Hour with free appetizers! I think that my favorite things on the menu are the Eggplant, the Beef Spedini and the homemade Carrot Cake.
I also love this place because of the bartender, Jerry. He is a class act and makes sitting at the bar a absolute pleasure. . .
What is This Place ?.
this is a restaurant that can not find it's identity. why not go back to the classic Italian inspired foods it once offered - still at reasonable prices. No Friday fish fry, much less any seafood, nothing based upon what is fresh, in season. Not even "Happy Hour" special like beer on tap, by the pitcher or classic summer drinks!
The management is horrendous - screaming & swearing at employees in front and heard by patrons. Obviously not run by anyone proffessional. There are even spelling errors on the menus. They need a long way to go to be a "go to" place.
Best steak I've eaten. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere
avoid this restaurant ,they don't know how to treat thir patrons!.
Let me share my dining experience at The Savoy Room on March 08,2008. For over a year I have spent hundreds of dollars dining at this restaurant: New Years Eve, brunch, lunch, etc. I take people with me. Today I had lunch alone. I ordered a hamburger steak medium well. It came to me covered with onions and mushrooms, and burned. One couln't see the burned area because it was turned over and covered with mushrooms and onions. I had a piece of it before I realized it was burned. I smelled something burning in the kitchen, later I knew it was My order. I sent it back. The waitress said she ordered it well done. I paid for it and told the owner. He raised his voice so all could hear saying"I am sooo sorry your hamburger was burned" What an earth shaking event your hamburger was burned" "It is just terrible that your hamburger was burned", he kept on and on! I was totally embarrassed! I was polite, I never raised my voice. I told him I was never coming back; He said in a loud voice I hope not! I could not believe how he treated me. I didn't ask for my money back, but I was shocked!!
