The Scene
Many folks recognize Pedro's from visits to Madison or the Dells, but this is the small chain's first foray into the Milwaukee area. Since opening in the late fall of 2003, this spot has been packed. Pop in and grab a blue buzzer; you'll be beeped when your table is ready. Waits of an hour or more are not uncommon on Friday and Saturday nights. Be sure to check out the tortilla machine that turns golf ball-sized mounds of dough into hot flour tortillas in 20 seconds.
The Food
Don't expect any surprises. Pick your meat of choice, then pick how it's going to be wrapped into a tortilla--burrito, enchilada, chimichanga, tostada or taco. Or do it yourself for fajitas. If you're famished, try the monster three-pound burrito. Whatever you do, keep the margaritas flowing--sized from nine to 46 ounces.

Look GoodAll entrees come with a choice of two side dishes. The corn cake is a nice variation on corn bread, spooned into a tortilla shell. The pinto beans are refried, and black beans are served whole.

I have ate at "authentic" mexican Restaurants and this place was terrible.....taste like top of the line food fast mexican!!! I picked at the food and the maragritas was loaded with sugar with no taste of tequila anywhere. i asked the waitress if there was tequila in my drink and she said "yes". I disagreed! I had a sugar buzz from half of my drink and a stomach ach all night {barely ate the food - no doggy bag please!]. Dont eat here unless you havent had real mexican before and you favor Taco Bell {fake mexican food}. In fact, Taco bell tastes better....This isnt the "real thing".

We had a great time at this restaurant. I could not believe the sizes of margaritas that they carry and we were allowed to mix a couple of flavors in the same glass. It is nice to find a place where you can get some authentic Mexican food. The tortillas they bring before the meal are excellent - still warm and hot off the tortilla press!
Pros: affordable, good drinks, good parking
