Walk on By!. I went here just because the name caught my attention from the bus. I had just moved to MKE two days prior. One girl was too busy chatting with her friend (boyfriend?) to be polite. The couple was lovely enough to look at me like i was an alien because i didn't know what i wanted right away. God forbid someone need to look at the menu their first time ever there.

The girl who made my salad was nice enough, she was friendly at least. But she put salt and pepper on my salad without asking if i wanted it and she put frozen (you could see the ice on it) artichoke in it. It was officially the nastiest salad i have ever had in my life. How do you destroy a salad? Wanna find out... try Potbelly.

My malt and cookie were great, but not worth the money the salad cost and the discomfort i felt being in that place with just the staff and the girl's friend. They made the place very uncomfortable to eat at.

Sorry for the pan, but this was my first impression of milwaukee and it sucked. Luckily everywhere else I have been has been great.

Antique-style cafe satisfies that turkey-and-Swiss fix with warm, made-to-order sandwiches.. In Short
The owners of a Chicago antique shop decided to start serving sandwiches to their customers in 1977--and it ended up taking over the business. As the restaurant expanded, natural woods and antique fixtures were used to re-create the signature, old-time country store look at every location. The warm, fresh-roll sandwiches share this classic character--from roast beef and provolone to the Wreck (salami, roast beef, turkey, ham and Swiss). Malts, shakes, root beer floats and homemade ice cream sandwiches complete the throwback.
