GROSS. i reserved a seat for me and my date and forgot me so i waited an extra hour.after being seated put my hand into someone elses food and was rushed to order in the unexcusably hot resteraunt for a july day.you would have thought no salad no bread no drink included what kind of family style is this for these prices for what they are charging they could have atleast got the a/c fixed.BEFORE I HAD EVEN TOUCHED MY FOOD I WAS ASKED FOR A BOX TO GO! What a ruined 1 year anniversary.i considered leaving and not paying for my meal im sure the MPD would have allowed me to leave due to this poor of quality.not to mention they do have numerous HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS FROM 2008-2011 check it out for yourself.
I dont know why people like this. I dont know why people think this is italian food. IT is a step up from olive garden, but that isn't saying much.. IT tastes like pre-manufactured food which no love was given when making it.. It isn't terrible, but it isn't good!
Food "debris. Just thought you should now before you visit this place that unless you bring a metal detector or scanner don't eat here!!!!!!!! I was here on 6-26-09 with a group of 30 for a rehearsal dinner and while I was eating my food there was a large metal clip in my food! After the "manager" came over to speak about the issue he informed our table that there is "debris in the food every two months his examples??? Oh yeah he gave some rocks metal etc... Then handed me his card his name was loren tasson and said have a nice day. Really?!?! So if your looking for food made in a metal shop with service from the gutter you found it!
I just don't get it!.
The high ratings this place is getting is mind boggling. Price is decent, portions are large, place has a nice old school Italian feel, but that's where it stops. The food is terrible, very poor taste, and service leaves a lot to be desired.
Skip this place.
Get cozy with friends and family and enjoy an Italian feast at this loved-by-locals restaurant..
In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
Buca is like the Old Country.
Wow. I came to this place about four years ago and it was good. However, I don't know if the management or staff has changed, but it was AWESOME! The food was so original it reminded me of my Granmother's cooking form Calabria! I was in tears when the servers came to sing Happy Birthday to my daughter. Wow! They brought out some delicious Chocolate Cake, a candleabra and a chef hat from the kitchen. She was so happy. I can say that the Buca family treated me like family and we have some great photos and memories that will last a lifetime.
The staff seemed to really care. Our bruschetta was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The pasta was perfect with a marinara sauce that had to have been made fresh. My son tried the 1/2 pound meatball and really tore into it! The special of the evening was soo good. Some kind of Penne Cardinal? Wow. I recomend this place. Chain or not, they know what they are doing at Buca di Beppo in Milwauke.

great place for dinner (or lunch). My husband and I have eaten at Buca's many times and enjoy the delicious food and festive environment. If you're planning to go, I'd recommend making reservations by phone or online. Without reservation, you may have to wait awhile. Reservations are especially important if you'd like to dine at the kitchen table - a large booth located in the kitchen where you can see various entrees being prepared and delivered to customers. Also, if you sign up for the email list on their website, you'll receive special discounts and coupons from time to time, as well as updated information about new menu items and changes in restaurant hours. All in all, a great place to dine. We recommend it!
Middle of the road chain restaurant....
Nice ambience and good downtown location, decent sized bar, off-street parking (while it lasts) are the good points of this restaurant. But in the end it is still an average Italian chain restaurant. Two occasions left me with a bad taste in my mouth, the last being a nasty assistant manager, the first being the exclusion of salad dressing from a $$$$$ enormous catering order. Usually when management is not up to par, the service of the whole staff reflects it. I always felt like the staff was doing me a favor, which is a turn off. But it seems to be a popular place and as such, I was invited many times to large gatherings of friends at this restaurant. Based on my experiences I would not choose this restaurant.
My S.O. and I spend a lot of time and money traveling and dining out here and elsewhere. As a frequent business traveler I also dine in many cities, mostly at upscale establishments, occasionally at chain restaurants... I'm experienced at dining out. If you like the chain restaurants, Maggiano's is superior for Italian food in a chain restaurant. That said, Milwaukee is a diner's dream come true... and if you're looking for Italian, a lot of places do it better without going to the chains.
Just hype. I had heard of this place for so long and finally went. Well, it was not good. The garlic bread mentioned previously as being the best ever........hardly. It is the worst garlic bread I have ever had. Maybe the fact that I have grown up in an Italian family and actually know what good Italian food tastes like has spoiled me. But I would not recommend it. There are a lot of other places you can go for the same amount of money and get REAL Italian food that won't give you a stomachache.
Fun and Great Food. I love Buca's! The food is consistant, nice full bar, loads of fun. Its even more entertaining to go in large groups but is also nice for 2. Served family style so you can try a few dishes and pass them around. A lot of food for the money. My favorite is the Lemon Chicken and Bruchetta. I've had other things and they have all been great.
