Terrible. I wanted some seat cushions recovered and brought the cushion and material. We negotiated a price. The tailor hated my cushions, said they were horrible. She was quite rude about it. I said I would get some new foam and to make the cushions to the dimensions of the one she had. When I came to pick up the covers, the old cushion was not in the bag. I asked where it was and the tailor lied and said I didn't leave it. I argued and she finally admitted she had thrown my cushion away. That was not right. I will never go back. I wish I'd found these reviews before I found the tailor. I have no recourse except to warn others of her dishonesty, rudeness and presumptuous behavior..

Never again. I would not recommend this business to a friend. The owner was very rude. Not sure why I just didn't walk out of there. The item cost less than the simple alteration.

I would have done it myself but I am working and taking care of my parents who are in hospice care.

so "MLKCHICAGO" you were right on the money and I should have read your review first!

AWFUL!. Kay's Bayside Tailor is an awful place to get your tailoring needs completed. I wanted my bridesmaid dress shortened and taken in at the bust, and she quoted me $150.00. She told me that she would knock off $50.00 by creating a seam at the back rather than on the side of the dress where the zipper was placed. I left my dress with her for a week and returned on the day she told me to pick it up. She was watching tv and told me that my dress was not ready. She picked up the fabric that she had cut from the bottom of the dress off the floor. She explained that there was too much fabric to cut. When I returned a couple of days later, my dress was ready and she told me the final price...$215.00. What?! The alterations cost more than the dress! She never told me that she had increased the price before she did the work, even though she had my phone number. I asked her why she didn't notice all of the fabric when I first came into her store. She explained that she never thought to look. It is her job to assess what needs to be completed. I tried on the dress again when I returned home....and her alterations were awful! The dress is practically falling off of me...I will have to go to another store to get it fixed for the wedding. I am getting married this year, and I will NOT recommend her services to any of my bridesmaids. Please don't waste your time with her services. It is the worst business that I have had to deal with....and I have been around long enough to realize what is good business and what is not...she certainly DOES NOT know how to do good business.

She's been there for 30 years for a reason- she's great. Super tailor, quick turn around, knows what she's doing. I remember my mom going there when I was a kid and I tried it 20 years later. Some things never change-- she's an expert.
