Stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel. Restaurant was about 2 blocks from hotel. This is a diamond in the rough. The food was very good, not excellent, but the location is convenient and located on the Riverwalk a very scenic city scape. It was not busy for dinner, but the bar was busy... the name perhaps doesn't reflect the level of cuisine(not superb but very decent and well priced) Beer garden reflects one part of this establishment the Bar, but dining area is the Bistro part of the name and I believe overlooked... Waiter said restaurant had only opened in early 2010, business was not as busy as it should be because, they had not done any advertising. This is a shame. Not perfect, but overall very good. Worth checking out
Enjoyed my first meal in Wisconsin here
on a snowy Friday afternoon. My husband and I were one of only two couples in the restaurant at the time, which made my a bit worried about the food. We were two cold Texans desperate for a warm meal and a chance to thaw so we took our chances.
I had the halibut lunch special and was pleasantly surprised- it came with potato pancakes, applesauce, and coleslaw and was really good! Not greasy and heavy feeling at all, making it perfect for lunch. My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries and gave it his seal of approval. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean!
A classy but casual spot right on the Milwaukee River. I came here with a couple of friends the other night and the food was great. We started with the brat sliders and the beef satay. Both were really yummy. One of my friends ordered the shrimp BLT, which sounded a little odd to me at first, but she let me taste it and it turned out to be a really great flavor combination. Another friend, who always orders burgers, had the avocado burger. He said it was done just right and the pretzel bun it was served on was a unique compliment to the burger. I ordered the cioppino which was delicious. It tasted fresh and was full of flavor. The service was friendly and the atmosphere casual. I will certainly come here again.
I write this review because this is a place I don't want to see go away. This is the third restaurant in this location in I think the last couple years and I was a little apprehensive when I went in. But it's my favorite new pub in town. First service in great. My water was always full and the staff was nice. The brat sliders are great with pretzel roll and the jambalaya is better than Maxie's and Molly cools. I had a port of call salad with apples, boursin cheese, candied cashews and salmon that I find only as good as at the public market. We also had the scallop with peanut noodles which was very good. I am a huge fan of the peanut noodles at beans and barley market but this is pretty good too. Overall a great dining experience. I would hate to see it go away and see a place like rock bottom a.k.a a step above applebees ... do better business. Plus dinner for two with apps and drinks was $60 Pretty reasonable.
Came here recently using a travelzoo voucher, which was a great deal, the advertising paid off because we had a great overall experience. The one exception was the parking, since it's right in the downtown area they don't have parking and it was a bit of a hassle to find something. The service was great though, the food came out quickly and all the food was delicious, they even gave me an extra jumbo scallop and shrimp. Also loved the ambiance of the place on Saturday night, romantic sea theme going on.
