So happy I found a new Vet. Just moved here from Chicago and of course my dog became ill from stress. Visited this Vet after recommendation from a new neighbor.

Everyone there was so kind and caring, as well as professional.

I am a little broke after the move and the nice Vet (Dr. Vogal) gave me different options and helped me decide the best course, even though my finances were limited.

My dog Penelope is now fine thanks to them and I will be returning there again!

Overpriced and poor customer care... AVOID THIS VET!. I can no longer recommend this vet. We took our cat there for a urinary blockage ad were told $600-700. I picked the cat up the two days later and was handed a bill for $1600+! Some of the charges are questionable and we were double billed for procedures twice. Very unprofessional. Additionally neither my wife nor I appreciated the manner in which we were spoken to by the vet. I took the cat back for a simple checkup and the vet wanted to do nearly $300 worth of more tests, and none of them dealing directly with checking kidney function. I felt as though they were padding the bill with unnecessary procedures. I knew they were pricey but $1600+ is RIDICULOUS!

Best vets I've met!. I've taken my animals to SAH for 25 years.

In that length time, I have tried some places that were cheaper, and while some were good, they just weren't good ENOUGH for anything beyond the basic shots, etc. I always end up back at SAH.

I live 4 blocks from this hospital since they opened the new facility, so it's very handy for me, also.

Dr Diane Bennetts is my vet of choice, and one of the nicest and most caring people I have ever met.

She's currently taking care of my little dog who has congestive heart failure, and I swear it's her care that's keeping my dog going.

By all stats, she should be gone by now, but Dr B just keeps her going with medications, supplements, suggestions, advice...and her genuine love for all animals, including my little dog.

One major thing that I really appreciate about this hospital (and especially about Dr Bennetts), is the fact that they LISTEN!

Some vets, like some "people" doctors, don't listen or ask you for feedback. These folks do.

They do the free exams for animals that come from the Wisconsin Humane Society, and when I adopted a cat from out of our area, they honored his certificate and did his free physical, too!

They are a bit pricey, true. But they are simply the best, in my opinion.

Good neighborhood vets. I have been to four of the vets at Small Animal Hospital after my pet went into kidney failure, possibly due to contaminated pet food. One of the vets was pretty insistent on euthanizing the cat, a second vet trained me to give IV fluids at home even though she really pushed "E&D" (euthanasia and disposal)--but I just couldn't let my cat die alone in the hospital. After some research and a third opinion (and lots of advice, hope and alternative medicine) from an out-of-town veterinarian--I started using Small Animal Hospital as my primary neighborhood vet, and about 6 months after the kidney crash, my cat started to stabilize and resume her former health and quality of life. She is now almost 18--it's been over a year since she was declared "dead." I LOVE the staff and technicians at this clinic--my favorite vet is Dr. Bennetts--also a rabbit specialist, fyi. For the vet who will keep your costs down, won't scare you, and reassures you when it's something minor rather than catastrophizing, see Dr. Keefe. Based on my experience, this clinic is well-equipped to deal with most problems, and I have nothing but appreciation for the folks at SAH. However, if you are in a position where you are facing lengthy hospitalization and/or euthanasia and need the most knowledgeable vet possible and more options, I would have recommend a different vet clinic--see my other review.

Excellent diagnosticians, excellent communication. Buddy's jaw dropped open and wouldn't close! I believe that every vet there saw him. They ran every possible test, expained how to feed him and get water into him until we could find out what was wrong, were very concerned. It took a few days, but they did find out that he has idopathic trigeminal neuropathy. How many vets would have found that? They told me what to expect (it would go away on its own and it did!). They were calm, professional, thorough, and determined to help us.

I fostered a litter of kittens and one showed positive for feline leukemia on a humane society test. The vets there did not panic, explained how unlikely it was that only 1 of 4 kittens would be positive, and helped me put together a plan to find out if mom and kittens really were positive without the cost of testing every one. The ELISA test was a false positive. They were knowledgable about FeLV - most vets are not.

They are very thorough and that costs money. I have refused various tests to save money. They will work with you and let you know the pros and cons of each test they order.

Any vet can give a shot. I need a vet who will stick with me and work with me and help me make decisions for my pets' care. The vets at Small Animal Hospital fit the bill for me!

Great Vet. Dr. Marheine is a terrific vet. She has cared for my dogs and late cat for years. She saved the life of one of my dogs when nobody else was able to determine what the problem was. She currently cares for my two goldens, Misty and Kiley and they get great care. Everybody I've been in contact at this vet is very pleasant and helpful.

EXPERT, CARING, & COMPASSIONATE SERVICES. I have been taking my Persians to this facility for 20 years. All staff have expert knowledge. Their physical exams are more thorough then that done by my internal med doc! All staff members treat you as family and they are professional but unassuming in attitude. One could certainly locate a cheaper vet but 'cheap' is many times not the best or wisest consideration when it comes to the care of your beloved pet. Very nice facility any way you look at it.

life savers. The vets here are experienced. I have never been treated so well. I used to go to another clinic for their cheap cost. My dog was sick with life threatening disease Blastomycosis. After 3 different visits with my prior vet telling me nothing was wrong with my 2 yr old rottie I took my boy to small animal on a friends recommendation. Not even knowing us they showed tremendous concern for his health. They knew that there was something wrong with him and were determined to get to the bottom of it. Even though we did not get a diagnosis that day I felt better that some one was finally going to get to the bottom of my dogs strange ailements. A few days later she called to tell me she suspected he may have blasto. We sent out a UA and a few days later he was diagnosed with Blastomycosis a rare and often misdiagnosed disease most vets know very little about this awful disease. I am greatful to have gone to a vet that knew what we were de aling with. Yes they are pricier than my original vet but had I gone to small animal off the bat I would have saved money instead of trying to cut cost and go to someone who said there was nothing wrong with my boy. I learned you don't cut cost on your animals health care. My dog is not just a dog he is a part of my family. He deserves the best treatment possible and small animal offers that.

Go Somewhere Else. I would recommend that pet owners who truly care for their pets go somewhere else. The staff (at least the two vets who saw my pets) are snobby, rude, and are constantly looking for extra ways to make money instead of treating the immediate problem.

I was recommended to this particular clinic by a friend; being new in town, I decided to give it a go. The first experience I had was awful---insensitive vet, overcharging for services I had not asked for and etc.,but I decided to give it a second chance. The next visit was even worse. The vet wanted to give me a "lecture" to prove her knowledge instead of listening to my concerns.( Very poor bedside manner). They seem to care more about making a buck instead of their furry patients. I believe the vets at this particular clinic are in the business for all the wrong reasons. In all fairness, I must say that I did not get to meet the two particular vets that my friend raved about, but I am going to take my furry friends elsewhere. I cannot risk their health and essentially their lives in the case that I once again meet up with these other two vets who had nothing but dollar signs on the brain ( and flaunting their so called knowledge). I must say, that besides for one vet tech there , I was unimpressed with the vet-techs and aids as well. Most of the aides waltzed in and shoved a thermometer up my kitties bum without so much as an introduction to me or my cat.

There are plenty of other veterinarians in the Milwaukee area. Do yourself and your pet a favor. Go elsewhere!
