With the power to purify, balance, & transcend, water therapies have found expression in nearly every culture throughout history. At Great Jones Spa, we believe that the restorative power of water can change your life. This is why we built our one of a kind, world-renowned wet lounge facility. There is nothing like it anywhere in New York City- we strongly encourage our clients to use the facilities when they come in for any kind of treatment. If you can't get out of town, a simple afternoon in our wet lounge can dissolve your stress far faster than a weeklong vacation. The stunningly beautiful wet lounge is centered around a 3-story indoor waterfall, overlooking our thermal hot tub and cold plunge pool. Inspiring architecture, hushed acoustics and calming energy pervade the entire space. Just steps away, you'll find our River Rock Sauna, Chakra Steam Room, & a lounge area for clients.

Editorial Review for Great Jones Spa – by Katie Heffernan

In Short
Forget "express"--the valued concept at this holistic spa is "decompress" and the magnificent wet lounge (including a three-story waterfall solarium) is free with most sessions. Soak up health and wellness through its water cures--a thermal hot tub, cold plunge pool, river rock sauna, and otherworldly Chakra steam room that harmonizes with color-cycling lights. The Eastern-leaning treatments align with the five natural elements and use only plant- and marine-based products.

I don't mind dropping a few hundred dollars at a really great spa. But I was more impressed with the amenities than the massage I had. The amenities are top notch. I didn't tell my massage therapist that I am also a massage therapist. I figured I'd let her do her job. But the massage was average. I scheduled the hot towel infusion massage. And all it was - was the same towel being put back into the hot towel cabbie. Once it was warm again, she would take it out and press it against my skin. I expected there to be several warm damp towels in the cabbie. I thought (for the price) that I would get a fresh towel for each section she worked on. "Titanic" theme song was playing on the boom box. It would have been more professional to have music piped in to each treatment room. The reason I gave it four stars is because I had a better time sitting in the whirl pool and eating a yummy salad from the juice bar. I realize running an operation like Great Jones Spa must be an awesome undertaking. But if they could be a bit choosier about the therapists they hire, they could charge even more money for the service. The spa attendants were helpful but almost no one could really speak english.

Pros: Spectacular amenities

Cons: Therapist's technique was average

This place is a gem. You get to hang out for hours in this beautiful space, with a waterfall, skylights, a hot tub, sauna and steam room - all for the price of a barely-overpriced spa treatment. Genius! They provide all the fixins - fluffy robes, sandals, tea & healthy snacks. You can relax in comfy lounge chairs surrounded by plants - a great escape from NYC. From my experience, the treatments aren't the highlight. I've had two massages, both ok, and a mani/pedi that was nothing different than your average $20 corner salon mani/pedi, just 5 times the price. I'm not complaining. It's all worth it for the peace and relaxation that this place provides. Also, the staff is great - everyone I've encountered in 3 visits has been fantastic. It does get packed on the weekends though. I recommend going during the week for a more relaxing experience.
