No wait at 8pm on a Friday? Now I know why... by Paul C. at InsiderPages

I'd been to the Brookfield Louise's before so I felt good going here for dinner with some friends. I ordered the special, it was a sea bass on spinach noodles, nothing extravagent. The girl next to me noticed the fishy smell from my plate, but I love fish and thought little of it. It tasted funny and I mentioned that I was displeased to the waitress, and she sympathized briefly but that was it. I didn't even finish the meal or my drink, which is definitely a rarity. I also made mention to another waitress that I knew previously. Went straight home instead of going out, just didn't feel well. Spent the entire evening and next morning in bed or on the toilet, with the chills and not sleeping but a few minutes at a time. Lost my whole weekend. When friends asked why I couldn't join them for the Packer/Seahawks game, and I explained why, two of them actually had similar stories from the SAME restaurant. What are the chances of that? It was then I decided I should call and at least alert them to a possible problem, talked to Matthew, mgr. and got no sympathy or any follow-up, he was classless and callous. Well, I think I've made my point. Next time, I'll wait the 30 minutes at Elsa's in that part of town.

Chopped Salad is to die for!

by adele9009 at Citysearch

I love this place. I've only been there twice, but I feel like I'm a regular. Excellent service; the waitresses are kind and very patient with large groups and kids. The decor is trendy and welcoming and the food is exquisite! I am enamoured with the chopped salad (you can even hear it being made if it's not too busy). Perfect for a date, a family outing, a birthday, anything. Three thumbs up!

  • Pros: Food, service, value
  • Cons: Parking (sometimes)

Can't compare it with Olive Garden

by rmader at Citysearch

Louise's has amazing food, olive garden has mass processed american italian food. Louise's has homemade, made-to-order food. Not to mention, the consistancy of how wonderful the food taste. Louise's has usually a delicable unique speical for a reasonable price. Olive garden should not be considered Italian, if you want Italian, go for original not mass produced. I worked at olive garden for 4 years and thought there would was good. But then I went to Louise's and can't compare how wonderful Louises' food is! Enjoy

Ingenuous summary

by cjules13 at Citysearch

One of the best Italian Restaurants I've been to. And, we've been to many good ones in Chicago. A mocha must cap every meal, preceded by ANY pasta entree and a heaping portion of fresh bread dipped in an oil/balsasmic mixture. Sit outside and enjoy Jazz in the Park, Thursdays in the summer or dine outside any summer day for that matter! This is a must stop at place for those visiting and a home away from home for those who live here.

  • Pros: taste, variety, coffee
