cooking 101
by mandy83 at Citysearch
My boyfriend and I had a gift certificate to Mo's, we were really excited to try it out seeing we've only
really experienced Mr. B's and Michael's house of Prime. We were there on a Friday night, seemed to
be fairly busy but not annoying.
We ordered drinks that took 10 minutes to get. We had a waiter and a waitress, which is nice if they are both attentive but completely frustrating and pointless if they aren't.
I ordered the "special" which was an 8oz fliet with scallops. The steak was good, but I ordered mine medium rare and my boyfriend ordered his medium, they got it switched which wouldn't have been a big deal but they were different cuts.
I also had a side of sauteed mushrooms that were salty and mushy. If I'm paying $180 for dinner: NAIL THE MUSHROOMS.
The scallops were the most disappointing. They were done well but completely gritty.
There's nothing more romantic than feeling sand on your teeth.
I was pretty disappointed. I can let certain things slide but Sauteing mushrooms in my
opinion is basic cooking 101.
I will stick with places like Mr. B's.
Great services and excellent steaks

I tried Mo's for the first time on a date. I thought the service was great and on top of their game. I order the filet and thought it was great. I'm a picky steak eater as I work in the cattle industry and I would recommend Mo's, as their name indicates, as "A Place for Steaks." The only downfal was that their steak selection was a bit limited for my tastes, so was their specials. I think there was one that night.
Milwaukee's Best (if not small steaks)
by Godzuki24 at Citysearch
Mo's was a pleasant suprise. Service was strong and smart without being overbearing. Selection of wines was impressive, though a tad celebrity based (Coppola, Andretti, etc.) and was slightly overpriced. Steaks were limited, but VERY good. As a steakhouse, I was suprised that the biggest steak was a 20 oz. Seems to be a trend with steakhouses, and one that I am not thrilled about. No, Mo's does not need at 64 oz er like the Chop House in Chicago, but 20 just won't do. 32 or 36 would be nice, and possibly at Porterhouse for two would be nice (I usually order one of these for myself). The upside of the small steaks is that you have room for the sides which were all good (corn, spinach gratin and jalapeno hash), but the biggest suprise was that there was room for dessert. I am NOT a sweets guy. The Chocolate Bread Pudding is AMAZING. Best I've ever had.
Great meal topped off with a great dessert. Mo's has little to no pretension in the place. They let the food speak for itself, and the small steaks do a nice job.
- Pros: Dessert, location and service
- Cons: Small Steaks
Delectable!

Choice, juicy steaks. Some of the best I have ever had. Loved the wine menus. Great atmosphere where it is ok to have a good time and enjoy yourself. Wonderful desserts as well. Very nice all around.

THE place for steaks!

Mo's is not "a place for steaks" Mo's is "THE place for steaks!" Unbelievable steaks, service, atmosphere and everything in between.
- Pros: The Experience!
I love Mo's

Upbeat atmosphere, great food, huge wine list! Only bad thing... parking, use the valet service. Loved the mushrooms and the chocolate bread pudding.
- Pros: service, wine list
- Cons: parking
Disappointed
by thune at Citysearch
Poor quality food (salad, onion rings, soup), very expensive. The kind of place where your water glass is refilled after every sip.
- Pros: Good location, Good steaks, attentive service
- Cons: mediocre side dishes, converence-room like, poor value
Not what it wants to be

I really wanted to like Moes. I really did. But I have to say the calibur of beef they serve does not command the price they charge. This is a high end steak house, I have no problem spending $35+ for ala carte steak.
Order the "special" 20oz bone-in NY Strip. I ordered it rare, came out a healthy medium to medium-well (mainly grey, little pink, but surprisingly juicy). When paying top dollar for at a restaurant like this I expect A LOT better. Sent it back - staff was very understanding and promised a new steak. I'm sure the kitchen's thought "we'll show this jerk" since the steak was probably cooked to health code minimums and VERY gristlely. They did replace the sides and the manager apologized.
Wake up Milwaukee. This purports to be a TOP NOTCH steak house. It is not.
Sadly, I've had better steak at Outback.
- Pros: Good Atmosphere, Great Service, Huge Wine List
- Cons: not so "Prime" Beef
