Cheap and tasty! by Diane M. at InsiderPages

Great food and cheap prices (we're talking $3-$5 for a meal!). The service can be lacking depending on who you get. The last time I went I had to ask for a water refill 3 times before I actually got it. That's in part due to the fact that they are always super busy. If you are sensitive to smoke, this might not be your place. You can request to sit away from it, but the poor ventilation doesn't help the non-smoking section to truly feel like non-smoking. So - depending on your mood this can be a great experience or a not-so great one. If you're feeling precocious and want a nice place then go somewhere else for the night. If you're feeling laid back (as in you're not easily bothered by details like your food being served on paper plates) and like getting some great food for less - this is the perfect mexican food place.
Best Mexican in town
by nicosme at Citysearch
I have been to Mexico, Arizona and all over the country and Mexican food is my favorite. I laugh at the people that have said this isn't authentic mexican food. Go to Mexico, go to Arizona, if you don't think this is authentic, you don't know Mexican food.
Everything is hand made and fresh. The food is excellent, quick and inexpensive. This is as authentic as you can get. If you are looking for a sit down dinner with fine dining, don't look here. This is the kind of food you find at a stand on the street in Mexico or Arizona, the best food you find there. If you have to wait, have a couple margarita's, you will love em too!!
- Pros: Authentic as you can get
- Cons: NONE
Go to Taco Bell instead

Skip it!
This place has the worst service ever and the food stinks. I'd rather to to Taco Bell, no joke.
Authentic...

I love the people who say that this place isn't authentic... have you even been to Mexico?? Or just Texas?? I go to Mexico once a year and this place is the closest to authentic it can get without actually going there. The White chicken Mole is the best anywhere and is only $5!! The only negative I have is that this place is so busy that it can take a while of standing around sipping drinks before you can get a seat. I definitely wouldn't go here for a "fine dining" but for good "authentic" food and a couple margeritas this is the best!!
- Pros: Food!! Margeritas!!
- Cons: Parking. Wait time.
Has went down over time

This place is not at all like it used to be. The food is thrown together and sometimes not even fresh. The employees are busy talking to one another instead of taking care of customers. The owner will at times when he is drunk kick people out for no reason-we have seen this twice now. We were talking with an employee once and she was telling us about all kinds of drama that goes on there between employees-this is not something that we cared to know about and it reflects poorly on the establishment. Years ago this was a friendly place with great fresh food at a nice price, I don't know what happened to change things, although I must say we have noticed the decline happening slowly over time.
- Pros: price but you get what you pay for
- Cons: service, parking

Mexican bar and grill serves frozen margaritas and south of the border favorites at reasonable prices.
Good food but not worth the agony.

Too damned smoky. Two dining rooms, but smoking in both! Where is the owner's head? He should put smokers in one and nonsmokers in another.
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: Smoky
Great cheese enchiladas and steak tacos
by valpo_c at Citysearch
I highly recommend the cheese enchiladas and steak tacos. The price of the food is very cheap and worth it. Overall decor is nothing special...food is served on paper plates. You can eat like a king for under 10 dollars.
- Pros: very cheap, best cheese enchiladas, quick service
- Cons: parking, decor
If you like cheap average drinks....
by stever817 at Citysearch
Well, this is an interesting place. The food is very cheap and does not strike me as authentic Mexican in its puriest sense. The reason most folks journey to this place are the cheap margaritas in small glasses...but I imagine after 5 or 6, the food tastes pretty wonderful. If your coming to Milwaukee, and looking for authentic Mexican, you will be better served by going to El Ray Sol or Jal Loco. For great margaritas and good tex-mex fusion, try Hectors.
- Pros: Cheap in its purist sense
- Cons: Blah food, tiny margaritas all for what is suppose to be great value
This is not Real Mexican Food!
by charlito at Citysearch
Why do people think this is Mexican food. This is not authentic mexican food, maybe someone else might think this, but not me or anyone in my family or any of my friends. This is a very cheap place to eat , but I personally did not like it. When I go out to eat I want real good food and this isn't one of those places!
- Pros: cheap, cheap, good parking
- Cons: not real mexican food
Great quick lunch or dinner
by 10schic at Citysearch
If you want to go somewhere quick and good for dinner or work lunch, this is the place. The food is awesome, especially the steak tacos and the enchiladas. Highly recommended, and so affordable. The food is served on paper plates, so don't expect high class. Milwuakee, in general, has excellent Mexican restaurants. The them all, but don't miss Conijitos.
