Class Act

I have to say that my experience at the Milwaukee Chophouse was a positive one. I went on a whim one Wednesday evening and it was quite crowded. There was a short wait time but it ended up enhancing my visit. The bartenders were very attentive and engaging. I asked them for recommendations and they had plenty of knowledge and choices to give me. Once in the dining room the service was some of the best I had ever received. Professional, yet genuine, steady yet not rushed. There was certainly a mix of crowd there from families to business dinners to anniversaries. But we have to remember they are located inside a hotel, this is quite the norm. Dinner was delicious (I suggest the crab cakes) and had a great time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I know looking for a great steakhouse in downtown Milwaukee.
A wonderful dining experience

I took my boyfriend to celebrate his 40th birthday on Friday night and we had a wonderful experience. Our waiter John was extremely knowledgeable about the specials, the food menu, and the extensive wine list. We were told the special of 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $75 had ended but John was willing to ask management to accomodate us. We were thrilled. The thinly sliced kobe beef appetizer was amazing. We both ordered steaks which came prepared to perfection along with a delicious twice baked potato. We finished with a decadent chocolate cake that was oozing chocolate fudge. Not only was the meal more that what we expected, but the service was the best I have received in a very long while. We will definitely be returning to the Milwaukee Chop House very soon!
- Pros: service, food, parking
- Cons: none

We went to dinner on a Friday night. I made a reservation on their web-site, our table was waiting for us when we got there. I would suggest checking the web site for their special; 2 plates and a bottle for $75.00. www.milwaukeechophouse You get to pick from 6 entrees and one of 4 bottles of wine. The items are right off the menu. Our server John was very informative and prompt. My steak, the filet was done to order. I have no complaints and would definatly go back.
- Pros: use web site for reservations and specials
- Cons: none
A Big Let-Down
by Amandaweekendfoodie at Citysearch
We were so looking forward to an evening of sensational steaks...and didn't get it at Milwaukee Chophouse. The enviornment was trendy, nice...but conversation was hard when you are swatting fruitflies and houseflies (one ended up in my friend's drink). The waitstaff, though nice, was a bit unpolished. My husband ordered a scotch on rocks, with it being presented in a heaping mound of ice cubes jammed in a little glass, barely enough scotch to even color the ice. Who can drink that? He had to pull out some cubes to find the drink.
Calamari to start: Mostly breading, over-salted. Prime rib was tough and poorly seasoned; the ribeye, though, was perfection.
Don't order the tasteless creamed spinach and just set aside the horseradish cream...it may as well have been mayonaise!
For what we paid ($300 for 4 people), we expected to get a lot more...more polished service, higher quality of atmosphere, and especially the food, it was terrible.
We are parents who cherish these rare moments of going out and Milwaukee Chophouse was just a big let-down.
- Pros: Good Parking
- Cons: Bad Food
Great Food and Service

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at the Milwaukee Chophouse this past Saturday. We are new to the city and had heard good things about the restaurant. The tuna tartar we agreed was the best we'd ever had. I had the "Wedge" and my wife the Chopped salad both were well prepared and the blue cheese dressing on my salad was outstanding. For our entree's my wife chose the eight ounce fillet which the chef was offering with roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions and gruyere cheese... I ordered the bone-in ribeye au poivre. Our steaks were done properly and were both fantastic. Maybe next time we'll save room for dessert... the waiter told us that the carrot cake was the best in town! We will definitely be back to the chophouse it was an all around great experience food and service!
- Pros: Great Food and Service
- Cons: No outside entrance (have to go through the hotel)
Terrible
by michael2008 at Citysearch
Ok, parking is easy. Let's see, what else... nope, that's it.
Loud. Although "networky" busy and business-hip boisterous is expected for high end steakhouses, the Chop House atmosphere was much closer to TGIF with high prices. Tables are crowded together. The bathroom was out of paper towels- and this was Monday night! There were folks obviously out for a nice meal and dressed appropriately whether on a business trip or not. However- and this coming from someone who enjoys dressing casual, but at the very least fashionably so- the Packer caps and sweat pants added perfectly to the TGIF atmosphere. Ok, well, perhaps the sanitary quality of the bathrooms, noise level, and straight-from-the-garage-sale attire wasn't great, but how about food and service? Even worse. Service was terrible; our server was difficult to understand, and had difficulty understanding us. We had to ask more than once for almost everything. When asked about details, the answers were unclear. The up-sell was in huge effect, glaringly and awkwardly so. She seemed to feel free to interrupt us on her schedule, yet not be around when we needed her. And the steak? Fair... at best. If there is one thing that a steak house should do right- and it isn't that hard- is cook a steak as it's ordered. 2 out of the 3 steaks ordered at our table had to be sent back. Medium rare is NOT rare. Once we got our steaks to accompany our now cold and over-cooked asparagus, they were fine. Not great, just fine. But this is far below expectations for a steak house. Our server forgot our healthy portion of leftovers. Once she got her tip, which would have been much lower had I been paying, she was gone. We needed to go, and never got the rest of our over-priced meal. Had the service been professional, the bathrooms clean, the steaks prepared properly, the aspargus not overcooked, the atmosphere and dress been appropriate for a high end steak joint- that would earn 5 stars. But they failed miserably on nearly every level,
- Pros: can't think of any
- Cons: poorly cooked food, noisy, too casual attire, terrible service, unsanitary restrooms
Service Slipping

I want to start by saying that I' ve never wrote up a review for this location yet, however with the exception of lastnight I would typically give the Chophouse 5 stars. I've dined here a dozen times or so and lastnight was a terrible experience almost solely based on service and the table location we had(which I understand that always can't be helped when busy). Our waiter was lousey! He had to walk by us often because our table was right where the waiters and waitresses run food from the kitchen and he could not apparently see empty water and wine glasses or plates that were done just sitting in front of us empty. My wife and I brought another couple with us and unfortunately they weren't impressed either. When I made the reservation they had asked if this was for a special occasion and I told them that it was my wifes birthday. Now I did't expect anything for that, however if the waiter would have acknowledged her birthday or brought us a piece of dessert at the end of the meal for her it would have been a nice touch. It is the small things that we and most people remember and The Chophouse seems to be slipping. Be careful Chophouse Milwaukeans now have alot of steak choices. Despite the lackluster service the 3 filets we ordered were delicious, although the porterhouse was real fatty!
- Pros: Consistently great steaks and a great value
- Cons: Service seems to be slipping a bit
never try again

If you are going there to get away from children, think again. I thought there was a dress code, but apparently you can wear your jogging suits to the restaraunt. My steak was terrible and I orded a salad and never received it. Customer service is not the best around.
- Pros: parking
- Cons: children is restaraunt
Not impressed

I was there for my birthday with my husband two years ago. I wasn't impressed with my steak nor the ambience. Hope they have improved since then. There are much better steakhouses in Milwaukee - Mo's for example.
- Pros: Can't think of any
- Cons: Parking, Value
